game doesn't launch

i've got 176 hours on the game without any performance issues so far but today is not a lucky day. i click on the play button but nothing happens. tried to play other games, they're fine. anyone has an idea about the problem? thanks

try reinstalling dx that should fix it for ya

Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

If it worked OK before on this machine, he must have DirectX already, mustn't he?

unfortunate news; didn't work. ironic thing is that the game is running on my macbook but not on my gaming pc. thanks for the help, anyway.
