2nd Attempt at Wales - how to minimise Rebellion
Before you ask yes i am a welshman. One thing that got me with this game was the desire to have a nice big welsh country to play EU IV with. Instead i am now addicted to this game aswell as EU IV.

Anyhow 1st play through didnt have a clue read lits and watched about 6 hours of you tube. End Result: King of Wales, Scotland, Ireland & Brittany with a hefty dose of England under my control. Also had a presence in North Spain, Norway and Owned Everythin north of britain island wise including Iceland.

This time round I want Wales to be my true powerhouse.

I want all the counties, both duchies and the kindome to be MINE!

So far i have revoked the counts claim (gonna grant him a barony) Taken Gwent and Glamorgan and am ready to take Dyfed.

Q1) Am i doomed to die and watch my nation get split up amongst my 8 brats?
Q2) Should i hold off creating titles and destroy them if possible so that theres less power to throw around?
Q3) If i destroy a Duchies title what happens to the counties? Do they get made part of another duchy?

More to follow as i play. This time round though i intend on only granting titles to baronies/cities, any counts or duchies will be family memebers only. Curious to see how much this slows down my expansion

You'll have to change the succession law so your brats don't split it. Elective doesn't require high crown authority, and generally works best for me.
As long as the De-jure kingdom you are under doesnt exist you can change your succession laws to whatever you wish
Typically i would give out all the duchies you come across. I personally find keeping 30 dukes in line much easier than 150 counts in line

Personally, I would destroy all but your favorite title (presumably duchy of Gwynedd or Kingdom of Wales if you've created it). Counties whose duchy is destroyed become duchiless, and are a vassal of the highest lord in the realm. However, the duchy can be recreated later by someone else.

Really? I find quite the opposite. I find 150 counts to be much easier to control, since their net power is much lower. Factions don't spring up as much and they tend to not do much in-fighting.
Hey thanks for the quick response guys, I#ve taken DYfed just need to take his title off him to make Modern day wales truly mine. (manical laughter) Next stop Ireland!

I find Duke/King vassals to be the best because if a faction DOES pop up, you only need to bribe 3 or 4 people to make it harmless.
The faction thing really confuses me, i had 100 opinion with some duckes who were against me in the Jo Blogs for the kindom of ireland. If you bribe the faction leader can it cause him to abandon the plot or do i still have to counter plot an assasination?
Oh Wales truly mine and working on Leinster and Dublin now

Factions take in alot more than just opinion. And in some cases killing the leaders may be the only way to stop them. Ive had alot of casses where +100 opinion people were at the head of many factions

To each is own i geuss. I personally cant make the thousands of counts thing work but if you can go for it
So i am the king of wales, just won a war against scotland as they tried to grab ulster from me. While i wait for the opportunity tio make some claim should i:
a) Focus on upgrading some provinces
b) Build and give away a barony for more troops
c) Build and give away a city for more cash
d) Build and give away a Church for - I have no idea why i would build a church.

I'd upgrade your main holding, personally. Building a barony/city/church would take 10 years to finish, by that time you'll have probably acquired a claim.

If you feel a province will easily be threatened build some castles. If not build cities. But ONLY in your demense. building a holding in someone elses county has little to no payoff unless you are in a highly depopulated area like parts of Arabia or northern Scandinavia
