My kings tend to die in their 50s or 60s

Make sure not to get diseases
How do you make sure not to get diseases ?
Recruit a court physician, Build a hospital and remember to shut the gates when disease hits your capital...
Most diseases aren't worth the penalties of shutting your gates for if you ask me. Black Death, sure. Other stuff? Maybe if you have a dynasty small enough that you could risk getting game over from 1-2 deaths.
Be careful which physician you choose though. The interesting characters spawned by the event get sent down the road half the time because I'd rather have a 16 or 18 learning priest take care of my court than a one-eyed 12 learning mystic lunatic.
