Is this normal?
The extreme northeast area (where the dirty mongols come out of) has gone feudal, and actually has pretty good tech levels. Its been 200 years since game start and they have level 6 military, 9 economic, and 9 culture, while bloody PARIS has 10 military, 12 economic, and 12 culture. In all their tech is slightly below west european average, or about 2 bars in every level. The Greek-Anatolia region has an average of 3 bars per tech, and high Arabia has perhaps 2.5.

It is near and spreading from the silk road, so it does make sense as I can see tech spreading from china and all, but dosen't this kinda break nomads? Do the mongols sack the area as they ride in?

Its only year 925, so any nomads going feudal seems odd.

Probably a feature of a pirated game.

Yep, hidden anti-pirate feature.
It won't let you play that much long bcs Feud Mongols with their tribal cb will stomp through your game.

Buy the original one and you won't face any weird stuff.

It's probably the Tocharians and Sogdians that took it over or something. They have a decent tech level. Maybe the Uyghurs settled after taking them over too?

Explains why all my good heirs die to a bad case of the flu.

Turns out it was always that way (???). From the start of the game onwards, the area was feudal, and hasn't changed since then. The dozen counties that started as feudal slowly spread out, and now theres maybe 20 total feudal counties on the very north-east of the map.

I missed the last sale :c, but seeing how much I enjoy it, most likely next time it goes on sale.

You're joking about the piracy thing right? Paradox don't actually use a different set of dice for dirty pirates do they? Right?

nope!

PDX implemented this feature in all their games since ck2.
It detects a pirated version and messes up your game to a certin point where your dynasty immediately vanishes.

Some games do stuff like that. No idea if CK2 does it. Would be funny though.

the first I saw do this was Serious Sam... 3? If you get the pirate version, right at the start of the game an immortal scorpion boss shows up and wrecks you.
