Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider: Error out of table range
So I installed the new 2013 Tomb Raider via steam and whenever I try launching the game it gives me this error message and doesn't start up. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem? My specs are all good and I can't seem to find the solution to this problem. I've tried updating my video driver, reinstalling it, and reinitializing the Steam client. I put in a support ticket to Steam 17 hours ago and still no help. As an act of last hope i'm reaching out to my fellow gamers to see if you guys have a solution to this problem.

the general consensus from what I saw was that the fault probably lies with (your) hardware. Either your monitor or graphics card cannot handle some of TRA's settings.

Run TRA's Setup program and disable ALL the graphical options (Fullscreen Effects, VSync, Shadows, Depth of Field, Reflections, Water Effects). Also disable any Anti-Aliasing and reduce the Resolution and Refresh Rate. Then try running the game again.
If it works, then you're left with a little trial & error to see what it is that your hardware is failing on (by turning on the graphical options one by one and increasing the resolution/refresh rate).
Also - it helps to post configuration information (cpu, gpu, amount of memory, operating system, desktop or laptop system, etc...) It's hard to give specific suggestions when you don't have any idea what kind of hardware you're running the game on.

Make sure that you've installed all Windows updates and if you can, update any hardware drivers as both AMD and Nvidia have released updates to address issues with their cards...
Here's the log file:

00:24:37:311 (4496) > Starting Tomb Raider v1.01.748.0

The game doesn't even start. Maybe this shows what is going on?

My specs are AMD quad core A8-3800 processor, 8 Gb ram, Radeon HD 6550D, 1.5 Terabyte hard drive.
Nope - my guess is you have Tomb Raider configured to use DirectX 11 but haven't installed the Windows 7 update to DirectX 11. Are there any additional updates for Windows that you've neglected to install? They may be designated as "optional" but it seems that most of the issues people have with Tomb Raider is they haven't installed all of the updates for their operating system AND they haven't updated their video drivers...
Just insalled all the updates and the error still occurs. I'm reinstalling it again for the fourth time.
Same here "ERROR OUT OF TABLE RANGE"
I have windows 8 pro x64 all updates is done with the newest drivers update for nvidia geforce 610m (320.18) SSD intel 120GB-Intel chipset B960 (DualCore)-8GB memory
i found out the answer to my problem. You have to allow the game admin rights to run it properly.
How do you allow the game admin rights?
^ Right click the exe and select Run as administrator.
Yes, but how do you set the program so it does not need to be specifically run as admin every time?

That is an issue with how your windows is set up... first disable UAC... windows search it, then disable it...

the rest you need to google.

You should be admin ALL the time.

Or you can modify the desktop shortcut to the game to run as administrator.

Note that you can't do this to the default shortcut created by Steam - you'll need to go into the Tomb Raider sub-folder under the "steam/steamapps/common" folder, find the TombRaider.exe file and make a shortcut from that (right click on the filename and "send to desktop"). Then right click on the new shortcut and change the properties - under the compatability tab you can select "run as administrator".

That should do it...

Ok, thanks.
One more informational question. Usually I can understand what the errors mean, but what does
"Out of Table Range"
actually mean?
This error thread is from tomb raider: Anniversary

but some of the info may be relevent, besides the compatibility stuff.

He cannot run the setup program becasue he (and I) cannot start the game.
