Linux?

I'll preface this by saying I'm preordering this game no matter what; I really enjoyed Legend, and from what I've seen I think I'm really really going to enjoy this one. I love platforming, stealth, engaging story... and apparently some half-decent quicktime events? I guess we'll see how it goes. :) I'd also like to give a big thank you for making this a same-day release with the console versions! It's weird to have to thank a developer for that, but I guess that's where we stand these days.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that while I will certainly play this game on my windows install, I'd be even happier to play it in linux. I bet I'm not alone it that sentiment, either! So I thought I'd just post and voice my support. I guess you're getting my money either way, but this game looks like it'll be too good to wait for a port that probably wouldn't happen anytime soon. Please keep it in mind! Linux users will throw you all kinds of money to play a game of this calibre. :) Thanks a bunch!

God I wish this game would be available for Linux (native). I will not buy the game otherwise, but if it becomes available for Linux, I will buy it the very instant it happens.

i would love to see a nix port i guess it gives me some use from that 15 dollar windows 8 disk i got lol... I dont like windows but i hate spending more time getting stuff to work under wine so its just easier to switch and play.. :( MOral is any game under stam or i own that has linux native i use under that windows games that i own that dont i just reboot to windows play :).

I don't even have Windows installed any more, so dual-booting isn't an option. Not offering a Linux version means I won't consider buying it at all.

People need to stop takign Gabe Newell's idiocy as if it were gospel. It is not a simple matter of snapping your fingers to make a Linux port. It can only be done easily for games with VERY simple openGL graphics that do not rely on DirectX, or 2d framebuffer things.

That means... indie stuff, and things crapped out using the Source engine, pretty much. even with source it's a LOT of work.

This is actually why any "Steam Box" will fail miserably. Gaben lives in a fantasy world far divorced from reality.

Yeah, I periodically made that mistake over the last 20 years. It eventually got to where I realized it was best to have a professionally made OS alongside a sloppy cobbled together homebrewed mess which I was only really using to feel all smug and superior to the "sheep".
