How much of this game is button mashing/quicktime events?
I just started playing this game even though I got it for free months ago. In the begining, there are parts where you have to mash certain keys and time buttons. How much of the game is going to revolve around these mechanics? I really hate button mashing and quick time events but other than that it seems like a really good game.

I'm just for the middle of the game, and it's used just some times in the game

How often would you say you run into them?

Well there's a good many in the first hours of the game. After the wolf den (you'll know what I'm talking about when you get there)

- there are perhaps two sections of the game where you're falling and you have to go a specific route so I'd count that as a QTE.
- There are two boss battles that are :damage boss: - :QTE: and repeat 3 times to beat them.
- One boss fight is QTE then kill
- Not falling QTEs (the number of which depends on your platforming abilities)
- Button mash for using the ax to open things
- One button mash to escape
- A skill set you can learn for dodge kills which are an optional QTE for enemy kills with your ax if they get too close

I think that's it

Doesn't sound too bad. Thanks.

If you're mashing the button/key, you are doing it wrong. There is no mashing required at all. You just need to get the timing right and then click/press the key/button once. I've played the game numerous times. No mashing required.

Well, you do have to mash when you start up the first part of the game to pull out that bit of rebar stickin' out of Lara's body

That Russian dude that Lara bits the ear off of

Anytime you use an basic pickaxe

When you have to push off the hook the Oni puts you one

The Oni Boss battle finale where you have to repeatedly hit Y then X

The Mathias fight though that one it should be pressed on a equal count. I found that desperately mashing just ends up with Lara dead

In the context of this game however, the button mashing shouldn't be more than 2-4 presses of a button so it's really not that bad. What's irritating it messing up a QTE

Yeah this is a bold lie. The game actually says 'mash E'.

I was referring to the QTE's, gentlemen. Not a bold lie, just common sense needed.
