[Request/help]Windows 8.1 Support

I have brought this issue up on a few forums as of today Call of duty black ops 2 is the only app I have used that doesn't work on windows 8.1 please help me fix this or patch the game. I tried running as admin in windows 8 compatibility currently neither worked. Don't tell me I shouldn't have updated to 8.1 as it fixed my previously corrupted win8 install.

BTW there is no error or crash the program simply lights up your steam name in green for 3 seconds then nothing load or happens

8,1 isn't even out. The current version is a Preview release which should NEVER be used in a production environment.

this isnt a bash windows thread, if you dont have anything helpful to say then leave. and it doesnt matter if its a preview release, if the problem is present now its better to fix it early then wait untill the official release.

If they don't fix it now it will still be broken when it's officially out thanks otaku.... Windows 8 does implement many new features and performance increases... example windows 7 average startup was 27seconds~ windows 8 startup for me is 3 seconds including bios and boot to desktop... everything in windows 8 is much faster.... to use windows apps/app store is optional... the start button bringing a full menu adds extra compatibility... I have way less crashs then windows 7 etc... I have been in windows 8 alpha program and have loved the performance jump ever since... I did get it for free so even if I didn't like it I wouldn't complain... please don't respond negative feedback and this discussion is based more towards the developers

even smarter people get windowns 8 pro for free from MSDNAA.
anyway are you running game on windows RT? or windows 8? those two are two different os.
I have never heard of windows 8.1 even my windows 8 run fine without any error so all I can guess is that you have windows RT since its windows RT that use app

windows 8.1 is the update where they bring back the start menu, though its only a preview right now, should be released by the end of the summer, and not its not rt, its full 8

its 8.1 i also got an email from ms saying i was invited to try it out... but ofcourse its stilly to use a preview os and expect stuff to work

8.1 is an update that brings the start button back to that blank spot in the bottom right it also implements bing search resizable groupable apps animated backgrounds boot to desktop... but otaku it may be to your dissapointment it does not bring back the classical menu... If you are running windows 8 and would like to try windows 8.1 you can download it from the appstore and it will automatically install it like a normal system update. 8.1 resembles a service pack more then a new os...

Post the rest of your specs. Did it work for you on 8.0?

You just need to uninstall it, using the Program and Features, then re-download it and install it again, it will them run a few other installs and it should work again. I had the same issue when I upgraded to Win 8. Do not remove it via Steam!

EDIT: Win 8.1 DOES NOT bring back the Start Menu, it is just a shortcut to the apps. It is stupid! However Win 8 with Classic Shell installed is better than Win 7. BTW, smart people got it for $15, like I did!
