Just got the game, hardly any of the menu buttons work.

So i'm navigating the menus, and I keep getting weird popups that appear partially outside of the game window, so the options cant be accessed. Also, many menu buttons don't work. I go to start the game and try to select a character, and none of the buttons work.
Why?

Don't use fullscreen of maximize until after you've made it to the Nexus and closed the pop-up ad. You'll need to remember this each time you launch the game.

So only do fullscreen after selections are made?

Correct. Only after you can move around and have already closed the ad.

As for your first question, yes you do have to keep the screen small until you've closed it, which sucks really. Your second one means that your using a charcter, when you die as the character your using, you can then use the buttons to select another character
