Dear god, SFM takes up to much memory.
OK, I looked at how much memory it's going to use, and it uses up TOO MUCH DANG SPACE. I want the scource filmaker to be a little more compressed so I can download it without it completely obliterating my hardrive.

Hmm, looks like theoretically you could just delete the TF2 assets folder from the game folder and knock off around 10gb of it from your HDD. Then you'd just have to put in any custom assets you want to use for projects as needed.

Yes, but TF2 is what I wanna animate.

Maybe go through your harddrive and delete all the pron
some stuff you no longer need? One thing you can do is completely empty the trashbin, those files still take up a bit of space. Maybe uninstall a few steam games you don't play that much (they will still be connected to your account still). Or, backup everything on an external drive then delete a few hundred gigs of stuff. :sticky:
EDIT: How big is your harddrive? Maybe you can buy a few new ones, back everything up, and start a RAID going, which will be better for speed and whatnot.

If you are able to delete TF2 assets without SFM complaining (I have not tried it myself), I'd suggest deleting certain sounds, maps, or models you do not plan on using. Those are usually big hogs for space.

0_0 how did you find this thread?

This is an old as hell & outdated thread, and I was young and foolish when I posted it.

If you mean storage space and not RAM, then right click on the folder, properties, and you'll find out. Mine's about 44GB, including custom assets and everything.

My sfm currently takes up 14587 MB with very few extra add-ons. Just about matching up with my TF2 nearing 15.5k MB. I bet I could make tf2 smaller then sfm if I deleted non required folders and files.

I think one of my problems for a bit was that I had too many games and garry's mod for some reason took up a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of my hard drive. I dunno, don't look at me like that.

Something that might help is to just delete some of your old games that you don't really play. I had to do that to move my steam folder to my ssd because it was the size of manhattan.

Also old thread hue.

This is truly one of the deepest unsolved mysteries of our time.
