Well I guess the best approach for you would be to figure out what you want to do for your first project and then search for specific tutorials that achieve that.
SFM has quite the toolbox available to play around with and thus can be a bit overwhelming.
Keep at it tough and you can get some amazing results ;)
Best of luck

The thing about using the official Source Tutorials is that you have the ablilty to follow them along. SFM includes the tutorials with the package and they can be loaded into SFM.

Open Source Filmmaker, click File then select Open. point the file browser to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\tf_movies\elements\sessions\tutorials

Open the {Tutorial name}.dmx to load the required assets into SFM and follow it along.

ok ty.does anyone know if I can change enter gamemode? I can't figure out how to becuase it's default is f11 and thats my mute button and I can't reconfigure it.can't change it in settings or shortcuts.please help :(

F11 should take priority in SFM to push to game mode. It is not programable, give it a try, it should take you to gamemode. If not, then you may have to pick a new button for your mute and change that.
