Source Filmmaker

Crashing when Firing Any Weapon.
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue as well, ever since a few updates ago, I have not been able to fire weapons while in "Game Mode", making it real difficult to create scenes with conflicts inn them such as weapons battling.

Every time I press the "Fire" key, right mouse button, on any character, on any weapon, the application crashes and quits to desktop without any sort of error message or anything.

If you have found a fix to this problem, it would be greatly appreciated if you share your knowledge with me. I have tried to validate my Application cache, and that turned out to be fine, I have run out of ideas as to why this is occurring.

Mine doesn't crash, but I'm having to old "particles not found" thing going on again and a burst of Red X's ... I really should look at that, but I don't use gamemode that often it doesn't matter to me.
Hmm, I'm not finding anything usefull on the interweb ether. I really only need characters to shoot at eachother in two scenes in a SFM of mine. That way the establishing shot is not completly bland. I don't really want to create 15 characters shooting at eachother manually.

Press Esc in game view to check what game SFM thinks it's in. Then, go to gameinfo.txt and move that game lower in the list of mods.

This probably applies to both of you.
Hey, thanks for helping out! I have found multiple Gameinfo.txt files within the Source Filmmaker main folder, to which one exactly are you refering to?

The one in usermod.
It says at the top:

"GameInfo"
{
game "Source Filmmaker [Beta]"
gamelogo 1
type multiplayer_only
nomodels 1
nohimodel 1
nocrosshair 0
hidden_maps"

What do I need to do here now? Move "Source Filmmaker" down?
What about in the "Search Paths" area of the document, which currently looks like this:

SearchPaths
{
Game |gameinfo_path|.
Game ep2_workshop
Game episodic_workshop
Game lostcoast_workshop
Game tf_movies
Game tf
Game left4dead2_movies
Game dod
Game hl2
Game workshop
}

Hmmm... Doesn't look like you got any other mods (games) installed on SFM. Do you have an error MDMP file you can send me?

What you have in gameinfo.txt is currently fine.

I have found a .mdmp crash report file that was created today, but I do not currenlty know how to open it. I've tied Notepad, but it just had a coniption fit and died...

You can't unless you have Microsoft Visual Studio, which is a commercial program. Send it to me so I can see what the error was.

I'm fairly certain that simply missing the particle files wouldn't just crash SFM
There's nothing in my arsenal that will read that mdmp crash report, believe me I've tried. here's what you should do though... in console, type... con_logfile "{somepath to a folder}\conlog.txt" where {somepath to a folder} is an actual path. This will create a log file of your console. Run the sim again and the the last statement in the log will be the last command the console saw before the crash. Post the last 15 lines of that log file here. It may give us some idea of whats happening.

I think it's a similar issue. i get the red X thing to, and i noticed the game lags when it happens, especially the first time. I can see it crashing a weaker comp. I'll bet if you find a fix for the red X issue, you'll fix his crash.
Yeah, I thought that all I did was reset the game environments last time, but that didn't work this time... I'm finding that L4D is affecting this machine, must check to see if I loaded a dag config file from the VPK the last time I extracted it.
