Free video editor (hitfilm) if you don't want to use Windows Movie Maker

I was debating whether or not to share this here, but I figured since we do get people asking about video editors I thought, why not.

From now until Feb 4th Hitfilm is giving away their base video editor (express) for free. You just have to share a link on either twitter or facebook. Since I have both, but rarely use either, I don't really care. And it appears to be a full version, not a demo. they actually give you a regular activation key.

I've never used it before, but first impression are, it's, ok. I'm used to sony vegas, and have used after effects, this, It's not very intuitive, though they do have a bunch of tutorials and stuff included, and they give you a link to DL more samples and stuff for free. There are a few features that are better then vegas. Seems ok once you learn it. haven't had time to mess with it though.

Off the bat it's apparent it IS more powerful them Windows movie maker, so if you are looking for a free alternative, this is as good as any.

Nice tip. For those who don't know, Blender 3D (the open source modeling and animation program) also has a non-linear editor in the vein of Premiere/Vegas/hitfilm/final cut.

Definitely worth checking out if you're a cheap skate... Right now I'm using Premiere on Adobe's Creative Cloud monthly plan deal. Kind of expensive. Once I have more experience with Blender, Adobe is toast. :)
