Crysis
Crysis activation wtf!?!
My System Specs: Win7 64 bit, gtx660, i5 3570k, 8gb ram

Everytime I start Crysis 1 offline (no internet connection) a window pops up: The game can not start. To check the status of the ownership, the computer must be connected to the internet. So I turn on my internet and start it again it works. But when I turn internet off again and then start it has to check again. Why??? I got a product code from steam as i bought crysis but there is no window to type it in. So will I ever can play Crysis 1 offline?! Can I activate it somehow?

I have a similar problem, but I'm connected to the internet and it won't activate the game.

Were you playing multiplayer at anytime then quit? The online activation seems to be an issue when trying to play multiplayer or were playing multiplayer in a previous session. I know the game launches and runs in offline mode, since I played most of the campaign in offline mode. (single player). Have you done the basics? Verify game cache? Delete local content, then re-download and install?. Run in cambatibiltiy mode with admin rights?

What servers are you trying to connect too? The Origin version after patching is 1.21, while the steam version shows as version 1.165 even though it is patched to version 1.2 it only shows 1.165, (odd not sure why but there you go) As a result it sometimes can be difficult to play on some servers.

I just installed it for the first time, never played even the single player.
Bought it on Steam a while back, seemed like a good time to play it today, but couldn't.

Then when the menu for adding the code comes up press skip, or esc. You only need to activate the code when playing online. If using single player then cancel it.

No menu whatsoever, as soon as I open it I get the error message.

For me there is no menu for adding the code! Reinstalled it- nothing changed. It does not start in Offline Mode! :(

Then something is wrong with your configuration or you are using the multiplayer executable. I do not intend to sound mean but it is not a problem with the game nor with steam the problem is how you have your system set up, you will just have to triple check everything. You are sure you are not trying to run Crysis wars? since that is solely multiplayer?

Today it worked. It seems the EA activation servers are not working properly.
KageTsuki 11/ago./2013 às 18:14
Yeah, most likely. I had similar problem and it got away by itself. Also, the version here on Steam doesn't need serial activation anymore (unless you need multiplayer), however to launch the game you need to be online at all times. You can't start this version in offline mode. Blame EA for that with their stupid licensing policy.

Aha. Thanks for the help! EA has always been the worst company in gaming history for me... ;)

I'm posting this in several "Play Crysis Offline" threads because I finally figured out how to play offline.
Go to Steam\Steamapps\common\Crysis\Bin32 and delete "GL.ini" and "paul.dll".
These are just DRM files and have no use ingame.
This also works in Warhead.

For the record, I'm running the Origin version of the game and don't have any issue playing the game offline. I didn't need to modify anything.
