How does the graphics hold up 6 years later?

It was a benchmark of the future back in the day. The minimun requirements say that you need 256 of VRAM. Can't believe that people couldn't run it on a normal PC.
Would you say it looks as good as the best 2012 looking game?

Minimum requirements don't necessarily mean you can run the game at a constant 60 FPS, they just tell you what can run the game at atleast low settings with an acceptable framerate (25-30).

i think it's amazing, but then again i simply missed out on some 10 years of gaming and am catching up, lol. I love the lighting and the outdoors, not every jungle has the "far cry glow" after all, some places do look like crysis 1, at maximum settings it really is mirror like reality and has crazy amount of detail and drool worthy screenshots.

i spent about 30-60 mins yesterday including download times modding it w/ a handful of texture packs, a downloaded config file, & a particle mod. it looks absolutely stellar. its mindboggling that its as old as it is, when one considers the physics/destructible environments, player possiblilities & attention to detail it really makes crysis 2 (a very good game) a shame & turns crysis 3 into a tech demo.

very highly recommend a quick google & download some mods, its very simple & the results are glorious.

I just finished a playthrough on ultra with some mods and tweaks. It looked great, much better than I remember it looking when I first played it on medium when it came out. For anyone with a pretty decent rig (i5, gtx 760) I highly suggest you at least check out some mods. This is what I used [www.crydev.net]

It still has physics that are better than many modern games.

While not a perfect game, it's a great example of a studio giving everything they've got even knowing that it would be years until anyone could play it maxed out.
