Having finished one ghost pacifist playthrough with most side objectives done, Ereban is a decent game that suffers from a lack of smoothness.
It initially intrigued me as a fan of Aragami, and the central differences here are enjoyable. Shadow merging and the ability to go on walls opens up a lot of design space, although it could be a little less hand-holding. The controls for said wall-crawling are funky, and the jumping and contextual prompts are often temperamental, leading to frustration, especially since falling deaths are a penalty to your end score. The environments are pretty and nice to figure out, but the open areas tend to be too large and gated awkwardly. The enemies and enemy variety is good, and the non-sniper units could benefit from being a little more threatening. The shadow powers and gadgets are nice, but a tree-reset option feels missing (I can understand it due to it being a shorter game perhaps).
Story-wise, the plot didn't grab me personally, and Ayana as a character flip-flopped between trusting - not trusting, friendly - cold for a large part, but the performances were excellent across the board.
The visuals were also excellent.
The game is brimming with premise, and I await to see what comes next.
I recommend the game as the experience it offers is enjoyable and scratches the itch, even with the problems I found.

Update: I've since completed all collectibles, S-ranks and merciless. Most of my arguments still hold, with the jumps being less of a sticking point since you get more used to them, and if you are trying to speedrun the missions or get all drone kills, their threat level is usually more important. A merciless run however makes me wish the take down animations were a little faster though.

I really enjoyed this game. It was lots of fun to play and I had a great time running through it. The stealth mechanic was a breath of fresh air and very unique. The combat was unsatisfying, but the one hit stealth kills will never not be fun. Just don't be detected.
