Lady in Mystery is a Visual Novel set in 1700s Korea where we follow the story of Seol-young who lost her family 5 years ago. She decided to avenge her family by pretending to be a male detective under the name "Kim Heesoo". She and her servant Woosung makes a living by solving and helping with odd jobs here and there in Hangyang and are known as the "fixer brothers"

I can say despite the issues this game has, I really enjoyed this Visual Novel. The common routes are mostly episodic where our MC and co are solving crime scenes and assisting people's requests.

For my positives of this game:

-The episodic structure of the common route was fun and it was nice to try to solve the crime scenes yourselves. It was also a great way to see the characters interact and see how they tic.
-The characters are all interesting and fun. "Heesoo" herself is an intelligent, engaging and interesting MC. She was entertaining to see, I liked how confident and on-point she is. I also liked how much of a 'loser' she can be on the game. I almost can believe she is simply a lame guy with how she acts. Also, I liked seeing parts of her character and how she acts in vulnerable moments.
-The love interests are mostly also interesting characters. All routes are different and were a great read. Juhee and "Iljime" particularly for me were my favourites.
-The setting alone was also unique. They included a dictionary and it had a lot about the social structure back in the 1700's which I also found interesting.

Now for the negatives:

-I won't beat around the bush. The translations are not great. The phrasings are awkward and it is clear they did not use a proper proofreader that is fluent in English. Personally, I can still brush it off and enjoy the game but it is noticeable.
-Some routes are shorter than others to a significant degree and it did not feel like the MC and LI had enough focus on each other than I would have liked on those routes.
-Also for a Yuri game some of the romance are to subtle for my liking, this is mostly directed to a route but it would be nice if they also put a bit more romance in their routes atleast

Overall I do recommend giving this VN a read when you can.
