Steam overlay integration problem...F12 closing the game?

I just played the game for the first time, and I noticed there was no "access Steam using the overlay" popup. Shift+Tab didn't do anything, and later, when I pressed F12, not only did I not get a screenshot, but the whole game closed!

Anyone else got problems with Steam overlay integration?

F12 closing the game is hard-coded in (your progress is saved and the game closes down)

Shift+Tab should work, though...the box saying "Access the Steam Community while playing" pops up after about three or four seconds.
