What brings you back to playing this game?
This game has been released 5 years ago, and now it seems it is finaly getting a little attention that it lost awhile ago. I think the main reason is becouse on the PC version, we have the mod Fuel Reloaded. What brings you back to the game from time to time?

To me FUEL resembles a lot of things that I look for in games, first there's a free roam, you decide where you go, what you do, the map is verry, verry vast and there are some real-life sights in the game plus there are motorcycles and they are my hobby, my job, my passion.

But then what brings me back to the game? I get to do what right now I can't do in real life due to the weather conditions around here, I get to jump on "my" badass bike an just ride, seriously, just ride. I stopped looking on the map - where might that road take me?

Free roam is the ultimite freedom that can take us to new hights.

I think what brings me back to this game is exactly what Aimbot said, except with the buggies and trucks. I like the buggies and trucks cause they are so radical compared to what you can actually have in the real world. Plus I like the alternate reality in this game.

I aboulutely love the wastelands. Getting to the top of Rainer Peak, Going to red rock bluffs and driving for hours on the highways are some of the best experiences I've had gaming. Play any music album and you can simulate driving on the best roads to it, without the hassle of traffic. Also great because I loved the decayed infastructure that games like Fuel and Stalker present. I'd kill for a music player mod for this game. Or any other mod. If only the engine and the game world could be sold to other devs, I could see a RPG in this world.

Having the freedom to just drive anywhere in a vast wasteland with a number of different vehicle types. It's also a very pretty game to look at.

It's a huge world, for one; lots of room to explore, and it's a racing game that allows for exploration far more than most open-world driving games. Second, the apocalyptic setting that allows for crazy weather effects is a really cool idea and avoids feeling similar to other games like Rage or Fallout, and as a result it still feels unique after 5 years. Finally, it looks great, even today, and especially for a 2008 game.

Freeroam really, I just wished this game had a real modders community making all kind of mods to make the freeroaming more interesting.

For me its the game-world and vehicle selection. The fact you have the freedom to drive anywhere, race anywhere and just no end to the exploring. Sometimes I like to just load up a music playlist and just drive... usually not looking at the map and seeing where I end up!

Oh and I believe FUEL is only ~3.5 years old, not 5 ;)

Whops, mis coulculation. It still seems like a long time since the game was released and yet still it feels like yesterday. Time flys too fast.

well, I keep playing it from time to time, because as I don't have any motorcycle (don't even want one) this game is for me something like harley for bikers....almost endless wasteland, strong cars and bikes, freedom of traveling from your seat....and it's just relax and fun for me :)

I just copy what someone else wrote "Free roam is the ultimite freedom that can take us to new hights."

I played it in 2010 and yep- freeroam....
Free roam is very nice and if I watch movies or videos on my second sreen, I can play FUEL on the other, because I just drive around all the time. :)

@Anonymousca4: It is possible to change the music in this game. They are wavs in the music directory although they have markers in the files which means you can't just drop in any wav and expect it to work. I made a rather nerdy tutorial on moddb and wrote my own score a couple of years ago.

I've just come back to this game after a break of well over a year. Playing it with Vetron's superb refueled and on my new GFX card must say it still looks amazing!

the many diffrent vehicles, no locked zones you can go anywhere anytime although you have to drive there if you havent unlocked the quick travel for that zone, the many diffrent landscapes, the sheer size of the map, 2 hour drive if not more from one corner to the other, we need more games like this
