Graphics Card good enough?
This game is one of my favourites. I have Windows 8 with Direct X 11. When this game starts up the graphics are fine, but after a while the graphics become slow and sluggish. This ALWAYS happens, even though I have set the resolution to half of its full potential. My graphics card is Nvidia Geforce GT with 1728 MB of memory. Anyone else have the same problem? Any tips? I've read the requirements, and it only lists specific graphics cards, but I assume that any cards better than those listed will do.

PS. How do you change the quality of the graphics? Does one change the resolution or do you do something else?

Pleae help. Thanks.

a gt what? sounds like you are using a built in gpu using shared system ram (in other words a pile of s**t)
Notebook overtake? more pc specs pls.

Yes, you really need to tell us what model gpu you have. Surely anything with that much memory would be a reasonably high end standalone graphics card (e.g "gtx660"/ "gtx760" etc). Sorry I cant help more but you need to give more details.

And as for settings, its been a while since i played so i dont remember what graphics settings are in that game, but if you can, turn all of the settings in the graphics menu to their lowest settings. And i seem to remember there is a "Draw Distance" setting, which tells the pc to draw things further away from you, turn this right down, that will make a biggish difference.#

anyway, tell us what GPU model e.g "gt650", "gtx660", "gtx770" etc and we can tell you more :) good luck, its a great game.

oh, and what cpu are you using?

Your card's memory is shared from your system's RAM. Aside from following previous advice, after turning down in-game settings, you need to be sure that other programs are not running in the background as they will use up the RAM as they need. Use the Google Machine on information on how to do that.
Hi!

Try this website, this will tell if your system has the required hardware.

Hmmm. I opened Dxdiag and went on the display tab. Suddenly it says that the 'device' is Intel HD Graphics 4000. If that's my graphics card, then I'm not sure what the Nvidia thing is. The 'main driver' is: igdumd64.dll,igd 10umd64.dll,igd 10un.
As for CPU, on the 'system information' it says in the processor section "4 CPU's". I'm not sure what my GPU model is or how to find out.
sounds like your running an Intel i5 haswell CPU with hd4000 integrated graphics. That really is pushing it with this game. I would go as far as saying its probably unplayable. Ive got a AMD HD7970 and an AMD FX6300 cpu, and this game sometimes pushes that setup lol. Im not a user of Intel productss but thats not the sort of CPU I would assume could play games like GTA. Is it a laptop or Desktop?? If its a desktop I think your only other option is a dedicated graphics card. Sorry I cant help anymore.

Mine is a laptop. And are you sure that its unplayable? Its Windows 8 Acer. Actually, I went on the 'graphics' section of the menu and turned down the texture quality, and after that, the game seemed just fine.
thats cool then :) Like i said ive not used intel, but I know HD4000 graphics is a low end integrated solution. Not really meant for games. But im glad you are playing as its a gr8 game.
