Driving the truck...

I don't have a lot of experience using the keyboard to navigate within games and I'm having trouble driving the truck without crashing. This is frustrating, to say the least. I've adjusted vertical and horizontal sensitivity and even remapped my controls to use the mouse. No luck! I'm getting fed up with restarting this checkpoint. The enemies are coming in droves. I just don't have enough batteries or ammo to kill them all. Should I restart the game or could anyone offer me some tips for getting to the next checkpoint? Please help me. Feel free to add me as a friend as well if you would like someone to play FPS co-op. I have a couple of other FPS, including F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 3. Thanks in advance. :-)

I also found the driving mechanics to be painful in this game. If you're talking about the first time you get to drive a vehicle, then I think I ended up driving as straight-ish as I could and ignoring the taken because I was low on ammo at that point too. Keep driving, ignore the taken, and focus on getting to the next checkpoint.

My final word of adice is that, based on my experience, many checkpoints are ignored while you are in the vehicle. If you ever spot another vehicle that looks drivable, hop out of the one you're in currently to see if it says "Checkpoint Reached".

I'll add you, though I don't have the F.E.A.R. series yet.

Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, it's the park ranger's truck. I keep hitting things while trying to avoid the truck engine being smashed by the Taken. I've even abandoned the truck to drive the SUV that's sitting right outside the gate. They're spawning like mad. If I knew where the next Safe Haven was located, I could probably run for it. I almost made it to a big white sign off to the left in a clearing. They were chasing me and bashing me the whole time. lol I appreciate the add.

I finally made it! The only bad thing is leaving the manuscript pages and such behind.

The controls for vehicles are a bit wonky on keyboard, it's true. You have to tap "A" and "D" very gently for turns or the vehicle will go crazy. Anyway, enjoy the game!

Its acceptable the thing is "DO NOT DARE THOUCH THE MOUSE" the camera is fixed to the centere of the car so you just end up looking at the side of the car all the time . Drive straight and use the brakes a lot to preform turns that helps a lot , i dont think i dread it though it takes a while to get used to it !

Yeah, I had a lot of trouble at first, too. Just take it slow and you'll get through. By the way, how is F.E.A.R 3 on PC? I played 2 on X-box and got really into it.

I actually like F.E.A.R. 3's game play. I'm not very far into it because I decided I'd rather start at the beginning of the series. Now that I have F.E.A.R. 2 (got it on sale yestersay), my collection is complete. If you want someone to play, you're welcome to add me. I love the shooting and the music's pretty rockin'. :-)

By the way, I've learned to "drive" a bit better when playing AW.

I, too had problems driving the truck. Thanks for the tips. I'll try to remember to tap the keys next time and take it slower.
