Unbearable camera angle !!
This game has a really weird camera angle. For all games except this game when you want to go to point A you should put A on center of the screen which is go straight to that point. But in this game when you want to go to point A you should put that point 20 to 30 degrees away from the center of the screen which is you have to aim left or right to go straight. So when you moving you find yourself constantly fixing the direction you go. This is all because of someone in the dev team has a bright idea to put the character on either side of the screen but not the center. You could say there are lots of other games use over shoulder view like Biohazard, yea but only when you shoot something while you aiming, but in this game its like constantly even when you walk. Now, while I typing this I find my eye unconsciously trying to look away from the cursor, and I just played this game for barely an hour.

This really needs to be patched ASAP, someone might get brain damaged because of this game.

This happened to me. I can smell colors now.

I find it annoying but bearable. It's part of the mechanism creating fright in the game. In real life rarely do you perform the correct actions when frightened, so the poor control scheme really adds to the frustration/fear aspects of the game. When a bunch of mobs are bearing down on you and you want to expertly line up light beams and pistols quickly, you find you cannot. Which i bet is why the dev's did the control this way. Sort of like a game that gives you no health and one hit kills you, it's a forced difficulty. Cheap and annoying yes, worth 4 bux for the franchise, certainly.

Still hope there will be patch for this in the future. This might be the first 3rd person view game makes me feel dizzy :(

You must not play many PC games if you can't even aim and move.

I agree. I am disliking the camera view. Usually I control directions using WASD and mouse, but here directions seem exclusively mouse controlled while I continuously press W.

I had no issues with it. But then, I played it on Xbox, not PC.

Yeah it takes a little getting used to. It makes jumping a little trickier than it needs to be.

The initial camera angle is indeed terrible. The horror should be in the game, not the controls. ;) I would likely have stopped playing, but luckily you can change things to a certain extent.

Try this:
- change camera angle to the other side with tab
- go into settings and max out the fov slider

This works really well for me. I hope it does so for you too, guys.

A BTB camera would've been welcomed.

My guess is that they did the camera angle on purpose. Setting the fov on max lessens the effect to a degree where I find it more interesting than annoying. :)

Well, that wouldn't have complemented the TV series feel they were obviously going for. But I've never been one to say no to customization in video games.

I agree. I'm playing Alan Wake again right now and the camera angle is the worst I've ever experienced. Those who defend it by saying it's artistic decision and you'll get used to it are a joke. It's like saying a car manufacturer decided to offset the steering by 20% by design, but you'll get used to it. Bad development.

But what exactly makes it bad, as opposed to just something you subjectively dislike?

First, I should have noted that I'm playing on PC with mouse and keyboard. As others have stated, the character runs at a 15 degree angle. I spent most of the game running sideways to correct my forward trajectory. The flashlight beam is also off center (hence the character running at an angle). This really isn't something that needs to be explained as it's well documented and complained about. It's just horrible.

I should also note that I did try playing with a controller, but using one toggle to run and another to aim is just clunky and frustrating. Definitely see why these games have auto aim. I have no idea how console owners can stand playing like that. I guess not having a choice is an acceptable reason.

Ah. Yeah, I wouldn't play this (or any similar game) with keyboard and mouse if I could help it. I also played and enjoyed American Nightmare which got rid of the auto-aim entirely. I don't think you're giving a reason why this feature is bad game design so much as saying you don't like it/couldn't get used to it.
