That's because your graphics card is really weak. I seriously doubt that you'll get the game running smoothly with that card I'm afraid.

lol...I play it at 1280x720 with 256mb gpu (60 fps)....set low graphic, this is the only chance you have, I think

Framerate is bad for many untill you lower setting to "LOW", medium is to high for most.

I have an intro level graphics card (Nvidia 310m, 512mb) and Alan Wake seems to be running just fine in the lower settings, and to be honest since pretty much everthing takes place in the dark you don't really need to turn up the level of details and such

lol :D and to be honest since pretty much everthing takes place in the dark you don't really need to turn up the level of details and such... just found that funny, no sarcasm there :)
The game is pretty demanding, try lower rez gl.

Alan Wake was running terribly on my machine (Intel E6750@3.6GHz, Nvidia GTX 280, 5GB RAM) until I stopped overclocking my graphics card for the game and did a clean install of the latest Nvidia drivers. Now it runs silky smooth on Medium-High settings!

How can there be lag if this game isn't online?

Lies. My laptop only has a GeForce 310M in it, and while the game quite honestly looks like crap and has mild frame stutters in certain spots, it's totally playable. You just need to tweak your graphics down, and go on Google to figure out how to set your resolution lower than what the game will let you. I have to run at 800x600, but the game runs solid enough, for the most part.

I have worse laptop than that, and could play it.

Turn off VSync, set settings low, and try that.
Also, go to task manager -> processes (or running, or something like that, im not using english task manager anyways :D)-> right click on alan wake's processe and turn the priority to high!

Yeah i have to agree with all these gpu remarks, i hope you didnt just look at frame buffer size when it came to your gpu
Thomma 26 jun. 2013 às 14:29
It is most likely your GPU

I am enjoying this game.
