Gunshots and Helicopter sounds
Would it be possible to have some kind of indicator on the direction where the meta-sounds (gunshots and choppers) are coming from? And i do mean just a general indicator like north, southwest etc. Usually when you hear a noise you do have an inclination on the direction (unless inside/ in areas with a lot of echoing).

If i know there's a horde to the south of my safehouse and suddenly I heard gunshots from the north, I would really start thinking about moving instead of wondering whether the shot is going to affect me because I have no clue where it originated from.

Anyways, thanks for the great game so far and keep up the good work. :)

EDIT: fixed some typos.

I think it adds to the tension when you don't know exactly how those sounds will effect the zombies. If they did add an indicator as your suggesting i would like it to be an optional game element rather than fixed.

It does add tension and I had a nice surprise when I went looting a day after a gunshot, turned a corner and found a horde standing around a parking lot I cleared the day before. Almost gave me a heartattack. :D

That being said I think it'd be a realistic option. Maybe add it to sandbox with a checkbox?

i think an indication to where the shots have been fired is a good idea

It's been discussed and I believe at some point they're gonna add a rippling echo effect onto the screen to let you know what direction noises are coming from. That way you'll know what direction the sounds are coming from and the approximate location. Like if a gunshot goes off, you'll be given an indication if it was nearby or somewhere offscreen and if zeds are pounding on your door or the door of the neighboring house.

An indication would be nice indeed. Particularly since I use headphones for all my audio, and I imagine most people have a similar 2-speaker system. With that, it's impossible to tell what direction the shots are right now unless they are due west or east of the player's positon (left or right).

I don't think it'd be bad to do, figuring out where sound is coming from is pretty easy to do, and if its enough that an entire horde would show up and arrive at the right spot, then its pretty blatantly obvious that you 'should' know where it happened as well.

2 Helicopters and Minigun vrring is uneasing to me ;-; I ran around in horror and heard a handgun had discharged. I'm waiting with my bat to see what happens.

Easy enough to know where the sound comes from. The direction that HUGE horde of Zombies is heading, and usely between you and a safe house ;)
