Optimization. Get more fps with these steps.

I Think optimization is not likely for some time but below stuff i have learnt will help you.

All you can do is make the game the best you can run it, like running your machine like a well oiled machine.

i even have black as my desktop so no cpu usage on a desktop background i do everything to make sure i can run it the best i can which is about 60-80 fps. i even close freind list in steam and use temaspeak every little bit counts.

when i first installed the game and played multi player i was running at 10-15 fps now im always above 60 even in wasteland.

I Work as a deliery van driver during the day im a nobody but this is what i have learnt since i installed the game.

I would suggest you all start tweaking .

Or you could wait years for arma 4 on a new engine.

Heres some tips to help you all

MAKE SURE YOU PC IS RUNNING IN TIP TOP PERFORMANCE !

Most people who struggle to play the game do not look after there computers general perfomance below steps will help.

If you follow these steps you will get some improvement i guarantee it.

You know sometimes you get a jerky bit now and then well its your hard disk not cacheing files but this can be done free read below .

DO NOT USE IF RUNNING FROM SSD NO NEED TOO

Thats the RPT file issue with it writing out errors in this constantly so conflicting with your read/writes on the hard disk as the ArmA engine relies on streaming so needs this.

Create a RamDrive and use the profiles command to change where your profile is (copy over existing profile) and you will see a difference.

(-profiles=X:\profiles (X: being your new ramdrive))

MY SOLUTION (ITS WORKING) :

My Arma3 launch options in Steam:

-skipIntro -nosplash -profiles=L:\

L: is the ram disk

I use free ramdisk software from:

http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk


Create ramdisk. Set lauch options as above. Run arma3.
Arma create default config files in ramdisk:.
Close arma and copy/replace cfg files from My Documents/Arma3 to ramdisk:

L:\Users\YOUR_NAME

done

All the below programmes are free and use NO cpu usage when they are nort working and No Spyware in these days these are essential for a smooth running pc .

First theres is a website called iobit which has a few very safe programmes on the site to make your pc run in tip top perfomance these programme are iobit driver booster - this updates your drivers to the latest all on its own, advanced system care ultimate 6 which completley clean clean your pc registry etc etc etc its amazing and you can also find razer game booster here which shuts down background programmes when playing games.

These programmes have had many awards and have had over a billion users and there is a reason, they are amazing.

Get these from this website http://www.iobit.com/advanced-systemcare-antivirus.php also under downaloads is the driver booster which will update all your drivers in your rig with no issues at ALL.

All the above programmes are free and use NO cpu usage No spyware when not working in these days these are essential for a smooth running pc .

If you follow these steps you will get some improvement i guarantee it.

Very important Make sure inside your arma profile gpuframesahead is set to 1 not 1000, this file can be found here C:\Users\Marc\Documents\Arma3 open the file called Arma3 with notepad and you can change the setting insde there then save it .

Open arma 3

Most important make sure view distance is set to either 500 and objects 500 leave shadows on 100, if you can try to reach about 1600 view distance if you can without to much fps drop.

Some higher settings will improve your fps as it will transfer from cpu to gpu and give more cpu headroom so try everything on ultra and fsaa x 2 on ulta, you may find better frames with higher settings, Just keep tweaking,

SSD
Another thing is try run the game from a solid state drive it will run faster. And wont get missing caches.

MAY WORK MAY NOT.
Also add these command to the launch properties -cpucount=4 -noSplash -skipIntro -world=empty -exThreads=5 -maxMem=8095 -maxVRAM=1023 you can find this under libary right click the game choose properties and select launch properties and copy and paste the above. change cpucount to 6 if u have 6 cores and exthreads to 7 and ram to 4095 if u only have 4gb i only think arma uses 4 anyway these could be placebo affects but there has been evidence of people having had these help.

THE ABOVE YOU SHOULD RESEARCH AND USE WHATS COMPATIBLE TO YOUR SYSTEM.

My specs
Notice my cpu running at 4.5ghz from a stock of 3.5 but have used a water cooler and its very stable 58c max temp running prime for 12 hours with no errors, if i downclock my cpu i struggle with fps but now i overclocked i run it np 60 fps in heavy firefights as long as the server Has been scripted properly.

GPU - GeForce GTX480 MHz Clock, 480 CUDA Cores,900 core 2000MHZ Memory, 384Bit, DX11, 1.5GB Memory.(overclocked)
Motherboard - M5A97 LE R2.0 AMD 970 Chipset, socket AM3+.
SSD - Samsung 830 Series 128GB SSD. Arma 3 on here !
HDD - 1 7200.10 500GB Capacity 7200 rpm, SATAII ST3500630AS ( RAID ).
HHD - 2 7200.10 500GB Capacity 7200 rpm, SATAII ST3500630AS ( RAID ).
POWER - Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power.

And do your iobit co-workers also suggest defragging an SSD? Defrag an SSD and you're gonna have a bad time.

Where does it say defrag an ssd. Also have you tried to defrag an ssd drive it wont allow you. ( I tried )

And i do not work for iobit i drive a van delivering car parts im a nobody just giving people the stuff i have learnt since i installed the game.

Yeh only trying to help,

I run the game beutifully all ultra i can even use v-sync and maintain 60fps so i get no screen tearing i could actually overclock my process to 5 ghz still stable on prime for 12 hours no errors but i like to keep my temps under 40c so i run at 4.5.

Why wait you can improve it with the steps ive given, people assume they can run the game on a pc full of crap and background programs running....... well u cant start tweaking and get the most perfomance from your machine.
