Differing Weapons

After looking at the various weapons in the game, I realized that the in-game version, the icon version, and the vigil versions of the tools are all completely different. For example, the War Machete's icon shows a red blade with black stripes and a gold edge, but in game, the entire blade is black with a gold edge. The vigil drawing has a different grip from the in-game version, and the tassel is designed differently.

Is there a "more canon" version of the weapons? Or is it just somewhere in the middle (as I've been drawing mine.)
