You mean your version or back in the day? I barely remember, but I always had Wuuf, because he was a dog and I was maybe 5 years old? I always gave him the apple on the floor after the first gate. I don't remember anyone else, but I do remembers going through the portraits to select my party.

Good Luck! The downside to single-player is the sudden-death attacks that can occur - however, I do reward players for completing puzzles without killking monsters too - so you can get to level up. VX ace has some erratic combat damage values, so the sooner you get armour the better to avoid insta-kills! Spent a few weeks trying to reduce this phenominon, but feedback welcome.
