The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Zombie Mode

One of the Best Mods, but needing a little touch up!
I really REALLY like this mod and it has plenty of perks, but a few things that a friend and myself noticed while putting in a good 90 minutes into it.

1. The tokens (the colored pieces that drop) are cool to implement and I enjoy that they give items. However in my 90 minutes the only two colors combined we got were Green and Blue, which gave us Bob's Curse and Homing Bombs/Sad Bombs. One run had two homing bombs drop which frankly doesn't do anything. The tokens don't seem to follow a standard drop, so some runs you can combine by wave 6, and others on wave 13 still nothing. It is very difficult to get higher in waves when you have literally nothing.

2. In all of our runs (a total of 12) when we went to the machine that will remove the item dropped on reuse, the only items we saw were: Chocolate Milk, Jesus Juice, Dollar Bill. They are good but we aren't sure if there is a bigger pool of items or not.

3. The perk machines for stat upgrades are nice, however there needs to be some way to gain red hearts. I understand how quickly you regen, that could instead be much slower so you can benefit from having more than a single HP. Unless you make a cap of say 2 or 3 red hearts. That would be cool.

4. Pricing isn't an issue, we both felt it came naturally and after a few tries knew what upgrades each machine would give. However, the trinket box likes to drop useless trinkets such as Maggie's Faith, Store Credit, and Safety Cap etc. Furthermore, two of my runs the trinket box dropped some of the Locusts, and I never saw any of the special flies spawn. Not sure if they simply always died the moment the spawn or something else. As far as we can tell this doesn't affect gameplay in the slightest.

5. When you get the Revive perk for a 1-UP!, holy lights shoot down and I'm not sure if they were intended to be an effect or actually normal holy light, because they didn't damage anything and simply made it impossible to escape the horde that kept spawning.

6. Lastly the pushing mechanic of batteries and the tokens is okay on paper, but with such narrow spaces to get them through sometimes they like to go flying in complete opposite directions leaving you possibly open if you try doing in mid round. I'm not sure if you can add them to a new HUD by chance, or my friend suggests making them in the trinket slot but maybe you start with Polydactyl so you can hold two of them at a time. When two match it drops an item.

Overall we really enjoy this mod and I don't wish to dwell on the bad, here is what we really enjoyed:

7. The familiars were all very good if not decent. I believe the worst we got was Lil' Loki/Sister Maggy. However we also got Seraphim and Rotten Baby, which are very good items.

8. The "Easter Egg" (Yoshi?) Cool. Survive a few waves and get some cool items. We only got it to crack once, and it gave us Spider Mod 10/10 would crack again.

9. The enemies were not very difficult and were easy to get down. The spawns were a bit annoying, however the invincibility frames are long enough to get away if you aren't swarmed.

10. Incredible work. Genuinely this is one of the best mods I've played for Isaac, even though it's kinda just COD lol. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful escape from the norm of Isaac and will be recommending this to everyone I know who plays Isaac.

8/10 Mod, you're only missing out if you don't download this.

Regards,
Matt and John

Cheers lads. Thanks for the feedback. I was testing the box last update and forgot to restore it to full functionality so that's why it's terrible at the moment. I'll whip up a fix next update.

The tokens are completely random so sometimes you can just get lucky. I personally dont mind the moments of oh damn I got another homing bombs that sucks.

I like the idea of gaining red hearts and decreasing regen. I might add a feature to the red machine that if you survive five ways after buying you can have another heart.

Like I said before I sort of like the idea of getting unlucky and accidentally wasting your money on a useless item but I agree the trinket box is to the point of virtually useless. I'll knock out some of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ones but I'm not doing all of them!

How exactly do Tokens work ? All i can do with them is push them on the ground, am I supposed to do something with it ?

The tokens on the ground can be matched with same colors. You push them together and they will then combine to make an item drop. Some of them are a bit trickier and the colors aren't the same but they will still match up. Sorry for the late reply but hopefully you enjoy this mod :)

No worries! Again we really enjoyed it and I agree about the randomnes being a good factor, may be just unlucky and of course I don't want it too easy otherwise the challenge is lost hahah. I'll gladly be playing this mod for a while though!
