Still having this issue
We had 4+ players and was working fine, then suddenly the AFK cards weren't registering as a player playing and NOT AFK, thus causing the white Xs to not disappear to allow more players to lay down cards. Hope this helps!
Cards are inherently fragile objects. If they stack, they're effectively destroyed. No problem on the original table, since it's just a visual aid, but for scripting maybe another solution is warranted. Perhaps it's best not to deal with AFK players at all. There's a point at which the computer is "overly helpful" and starts to cause more problems than solutions.
