Guide to references
There are several references scattered all across the plague, but what do they reference exactly, and do you think you have got all of them? In this guide I'm going to expose all of the references made so you can answer that question, and of course, more than in the other two guides
SPOILERS AHEAD
Before starting I want to answer one question
Why you didn't put Overwatch and PG references?
Seeing how I got trigger happy with references, such question is not that strange, there are two reasons:
  1. The first is that when I wrote most of this stuff those weren't the trending stuff, but OPM and Undertale
  2. The second is that they are trending. Succubi are already misconcieved too often as material for some weird hentai. I struggled to picture succubi as much as badass fighters and assassins instead akin to kunoichi(just that those preferred deceptive kills over stealthy ones), in fact any trait that brings arousal to men brings as well mental disorders or brutal death, but that of course can't be enough and I don't want to exacerbate this. I will put two or three uncommon memes here and there, but trending stuff is just out of question
Transmissions
What Women Want- A 2000 movie
Faboan/Sol-Petahe/Carnages/Canilu- Sol Petahe and Carnages are a reference to the Malicious Torture Attack in Bayonetta 2, and the Carnages in the description reflect what they did there both in the Torture Attack and when shot out of Kafka/Samsa. Canilu and Faboan are Enochian just like Sol-Petahe, but the latter actually never appeared in the series.
Curse of the Bloody Puppets- The name of the first level of the first Devil May Cry
Bloodbending- Derivate from Waterbending in the Avatar series
Crest Insects- The name is a parody of the Crest Worms from the Fate series, but they act only partially like them, while the insects from Magic Circuits actually function like in the series
I said don't swallow- A reference to the start of the Deadpool movie
Ice Queen- 2001 song from Within Temptation
Symptoms
Dimension Link- Feature of summoning in Kingdom Hearts BbS
Everinnye- An alternative name for Dimension of Dreams in Doctor Who, wich is just what it looks like
Trust Issues- 2011 song from Drake
Abusive Instict- One could easily see a missed opportunity by not putting Killer Instict instead, but somehow, I didn't really feel like making that many reference to fighting games, as you can see in the Combos section
Lilith- Mother of demons in Jewish mitology, especially succubi and vampires(wich is what the "younger brothers" of vampirism refers to), the actual first woman, despite having pronounced God's true name, she is technically purer than Adam and Eve as that wasn't denied, in fact she left the Eden by herself and refused to come back
Iron Maiden- If you have played The Rise of The Machines scenario you might have noticed that the Iron Maiden trait there is quite similar to the one here, that is because both of us reference with this name the valkirie from Valkirie Crusade
Servant Sacrifice- A skill in Xenoblade Chronicles X
Kumiho- Nine-tailed Fox Spirit in Korean folklore
Abilities
Gomorrah- A demon from the Bayonetta series
Life & Death- if you Google it you get the name of a Twilight book, but in this case it's actually a reference to a deck archetype in Magic 2015, wich uses Light and Darkness elements, both of wich easily have a focus for recycling cards
Soul Edge- Main antagonist of the Souls series, it consumes souls there as well
Beast Within- A group of abilities in the Bayonetta Series
Pop-ups
Terminal Corruption- A game over condition in Metroid Prime 3
Bullet Hell- a genre of games
Baou Zakeruga- The fourth of Zatchbell's spells of its series
Love is Blue/All 4 One- The name of Bayonetta's/Jeanne's favourite weapon in the second game, wich in turn is a reference to a 1968 song from Paul Mauriat
Ice Hunt- 2003 book from James Rollins
I am the weapon- 2014 book from Allen Zadoff
Dream Thieves- 2013 book from Maggie Stiefvater
Why have you forsaken...You Wanted to...- Pieces of the 2001 song Chop Suey from System Of A Dawn
Erinyes and Graces- Greek trios, the first embodying vengeance, the latters guiding men toward enlightenment
Hybrids- Primary force of the Chimeran Army, created by human hosts, and most common enemy of the Resistance series
Deadly Accel- parody of the several Time Alter abilities from the Fate series
Rakshasa Reversal- The Reversal part is a reference to Swallow Reversal, while the Rakshasa part is a reference to Ittou Rakshasa. The ST reflects this since when I thought about it as a technique that consumes all the Reversed Life & Death, 50 souls and the Queen's one, for a dash and a series of slashes happening at impercettibly fast speed
Nijiar- Raijin backward
Arc Restraint- A power from InFamous 1 and 2
Aghasura- A giant snake-like Rakshasa in Hindu mitology

And now it's time I answer a question about a reference, wich is the Succubus Queen
Why Karis?
Among all possible succubi out there, why did I choose her for the queen?
Well, first I made a big bad discarding process to get rid of several bad samples, wich can be put under three categories
  • The demons under rule 34. I don't think I need to explain what is wrong with such a protrayal
  • The ones that act like a simple kind of servant to a badder demon, that of course can't go well with a Queen
  • Those like the Boss from Mirror of Fate: trying to allure men despite appearing obviously dangerous. Yep, I'm sure that's gonna work. There is a simple reason why that doesn't work: conditioning is OP. You can cast placebo and nocebo effect on yourself by the sole force of imagination, you can shrink and enlarge your pupils just my imagining light and dark stuff, you can cast adrenaline rushes just by imagining to experience something that casts it, even subliminal waves. They go right through your reason, right? But if you know they are there and don't believe in their effect your brain says "screw that" and puts the messages among the ignored ones, wich makes the Polybius fact that it affects only those who play and thus enter in the flow of the game, actually believable. For this reason, it takes a trait of its own to be able to take a man out of the contest of war and seduce it there, and that is what makes straight murder and alternative methods, such as pheromones, important resources.
At the end, Karis faced other three queens: Malcanthet, Morrigan Aensland and the unnamed Succubus Queen from Vindictus(comes to ask why her, along others such as the Overlord and Fable ones are referred simply like this, like "Succubus Queen" was an actual name). Sinistralis of the Pain could technically be a candidate, but that is mostly because of the regards she has to succubi subjugated to warlocks, and those succubi do suck quite a bit, but that can't apply to succubi from this plague. The first to fall behind was Malcanthet. While it made sense for all of that stuff about unresistable allure, wich is as well the reason for the Succubus Queen unlocking Obedience, she prefers far too much this side of a succubus to actual fighting. Granted fighting isn't in their origin lore but it remains a fundamental part of this scenario. Malcanthet's skills and abilities strongly remark one single trait, she mostly lets the opponents fight, she is simply not made for fight as much as she is for love. A Queen must be several steps ahead of succubi in any aspect:
A succubus can perform a full reaction in 0,1 seconds and distinguish 120 frames in a second? She must be able to recognize 10^40 frames per second and complete a reaction from one of those impercettible frames to another. Succubi can lift cruisers? She can lift skyscrapers. A succubus' tail can cut through skin? Her can cut through titanium. A succubus feeds off the life-sustaining side of a soul and consumes it to do higher level stuff such as body enchancement, bullet climax and soul materializing? She can do that already, just to fall in the realm of catastrophe-causing strength with souls. By design Malcanthet can't be a complete queen and surpass succubi.
The next to lose is the Vindictus Succubus Queen, wich suffers of the opposite provblem. While very keen to fighting, she isn't able to perform any kind of allure without the thought of murdering coming in her head every 2 seconds. Not only her smiles are more forced than BvS' plot, but her eyes frequently turn red. Red eyes have no melanin in them, brown eyes have the highest amount possible, behind black eyes. To switch from brown to red it means you aren't even trying. After a while you resist an allure phase she says "screw this" and tries to absorb your life anyway, just to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of because you repelled her. While this kind of mentality can be pretty good when talking about succubi taking the revenging way, it can't take them as a whole, for that it is needed a lighter heart.
Between Morrigan and Karis it was very hard-fought, but Morrigan didn't lose because Karis is actually evil or because she has an actual tail that, unlike the ones that the first summons, doesn't look like ultragenericdeviltale.jpg but rather because of something related to her refusing the throne of Makai and preferring instead a life like a normal succubus. This is a very important thing, as it means she can't bother menaging a reign. Karis on the other hand has a sharper mind. I already explained how complicated it is to actually control a man's perception to properly allure him, and controlling the flow of events to gain advantage from them is no easier task, but is fundamental for a leader, as you might already know, playing a strategy game. While not being the actual leader of the demons, Karis has enough skills to command, as she has a history of not only murder, but also betrayal and especially deception, pushing a whole plan with deceptions alone. This is why Karis is the best choice for a Succubus Queen
