Well, guests won't eat your food unless they're starving.
So they actually have to own it.

You can right click them to trade or press the gift button in the trade menu to gift.

Since when is this so? In 1.2 the guests eat the meals in the Rim Fridge without buying them.

It's been like this a long time. They only eat it when they're starving.

The strange thing is i never had that Message before 1.3. Well they eat what they are allowed to so i just ignore the message. Thanks for this Mod

Well, the message is new. Before that people rarely noticed when their guests would starve.

They don't seem to buy meals or pemmican in their shopping areas, even if they have the money to do so. I've tried it with most of the meals I have access to, but I have to manually trade it over to them. They have no problems buying clothes, however.

Might need some work with ideology, so they'll buy meals automatically based on their ideology. (Mostly to check if they're Vegetarian or Carnivores), or if they'll eat anything.

Could that be why they're not buying it?

I have (most) types of food available and they don't seem to pick up any. I do have a lot of mods, but I have Hospitality loaded last.

So far I've tried putting the following in their buy zone:

Pemmican
Simple Meal
Fine Meal
Vegetarian Fine Meal
Vegetarian Lavish Meal

They don't seem to buy any of them. (Even if the food is within their ideology.)

When I go to sell food DIRECTLY to them, the only things they seem willing to buy are Pemmican and Survival Meals, which works, but not for the buy zone.

Just to piggyback off the previous user's comment, I was also never able to gift actual meals to guests (this was before I installed Ideology too, about a week or so ago. I haven't tested it since then). They would accept survival meals in the gift menu just fine though.

Yeah, some mod is breaking the trading of meals, as far as I can tell.

Other than that, I really don't know. You're sure it's not a faction that only eats mushrooms or something?

Yep, it's happened for most guests that have passed through, and I have Hospitality loaded as low as possible.

Traded with the Empire, Tribals, a Nudist Group, and a few others, Only one of them has diet restrictions in my save, but none of them can buy meals from me.

None of them seem to buy pemmican off the floor, however. I've yet to try it with survival meals, as I don't have them in excess.

It's no big deal to me, just trying to see if I can get it solved, since it doesn't seem like I'm the only one with this issue.

Similar is happening to me, a pawn keeps standing next to my simple meals "browsing," with 19 silver in inventory, but it says guest has nothing to eat. Not until she is at literally zero food, does she then steal one.

As a workaround I changed the storage zone with the food to low, so the food got moved to another zone, and then she bought it.

I first tried to gift food, but for some reason it didn't show up? After she bought the food through the above menu, it showed up to trade one-way back to me, but the rest of my food could not be gifted or traded to her. Not sure if conflicting mods? I tried disabling vanilla cooking expanded but it didnt change anything. Maybe save our ships? Maybe her faction doesnt trade in Simple meals, as I didnt see it listed in what any settlements will buy on the map screen.

That was my workaround as well, I just made a sort-of walk in fridge in the guest hotel and that seemed to work as well. I think if there were any issues, it wasn't really this mod, I love this one. It was the walled refrigerators mod not working well with Hospitality.

It's wonky but it works now.

I really wish I could find out what causes the trading problem. It certainly pisses me off that I get all the complaints for it.
