Name: Flarer
Funny name: Back-to-stone-kicker.
Basically it would be a device that upon activation causes a star to generate a class X solar flare. Shorting out everything on the planets nearby, kicking any civilaztions in it back to the stone-age :D
Basically a non-lethal sun crusher.
Regarding the avatar: Would it be possible to make it also a federation-wide project? Like its construction could be proposed and a votation would take place. If more than the 50% of the leaders of the federation are in favor then each one of them would partecipate in its construction and defense, and upon activation it would under the control of the federation president (basically it would be part of the federate fleet).
Such Avatar would give considerably less penalties to opinion among the other empires, and a big penalty to the enemies of the federation.
Nuke them back to the stone age? Sounds interesting, so the Empire owning the colonies loses them and ends up with planets full of primitives? Hmm...might be a good doomsday weapon, will think about it.
As for the Avatar, unfortunately I have no access to the AI so I don't believe I can get members in your federation to actually vote on or even help with its construction. Though it would be really cool if Empires could band together in a federation and work on the project.
I thought of an additional feature: It would turn every single inhabitable planet in the system in a tomb world as well, covered in what's left of the civilization living on it.
That's a pity, but it's alright probably the devs will do something if they decide to beef up the federation mechanics.
Description: Mind-Control Lasers used as a Weapon.
Effects: There are diffrent ways to use these, as a weapon in combat, firing it into an enemy planet / primitive planet.
Fired on a planet: There are multiple ways to use the Mind-Control Lasers on a planet,
1. You can change ethos of the pops!
2. You can change the happiness levels of the pops!
3. In case its being fired to the capital planet, you can change the other empires policies by changing minds of the leaders and the main politicians on the capital, to cause huge damage to enemies. (For example making synths against the law when their empire has huge amount of them)
4. You can lower morale without bombarding.
5. You can make some of the pops suicide.
Fired on a Fleet: This will split the fleet into half of the power of the original fleet making the other half turn into your side for a month, then it will return to the original fleet.
Also there would be techs that would counter these, Mind-Shields.
I havent got a cool name for this weapon yet.
I understand that some of the features may be inpossible to make with the limitations of the engine, but i would love to see this idea happen atleast on some level.
The fleet mind control sounds like a really interesting weapon. Have to look into it and see if it is possible though.
The downside is that fielding it decreases the ED invaders MTTH down to 10 years (in case someone doesn't get it, the "demons" the Hell Portal spawns are just those weird energy being things).
Another idea is the "Life Seed," which is the antithesis of the Spear of Longinus; instead of ripping the planet apart and turning it into a molten world, it terraforms the selected planet into a Gaia class world instantly, destroying/overgrowing everything else on the planet's surface.
The downside is that it would add a "Life Seed Forest" tile-blocker to half the planet's tiles, which are not removable. Or, if that would be too complicated, it'd add a dense-jungle tile blocker to every single tile, rendering the planet uncolonizable. The techs required to unlock this doomsday weapon should be Secrets of Life and Nano-Vitality Crops.
My third idea is that you should allow the research of doomsday devices without Sentient AI, but the activation/deployment of such weapons would be restricted by a policy that requires Sentient AI.
Moving past war related technologies is something I'm looking at. However, the focus of this mod is largely to "improve space battles". I feel like if I spread out too much into stuff like terraforming and buildings it would negatively impact compatibility with other mods. That being said, I will very likely add the ability to terraform glassed planets back to something habitable, since that class is unique to this mod
Hmm I guess that would be possible. But aside from the opinion boost from outlawing doomsday weapons is there a reason you prefer it that way?
