Ultimate Eyecandy v1.5.2

Report issues here
Hey all,

I have tested extensively and under various circumstances to stamp out all possible issues. However this is my first mod, and I haven't been able to test compatibility with all mods available in the Workshop (for pretty obvious reasons ;), so if you are using this mod and are running into problems, errors or crashes, please report them here.

A few things to keep in mind:

- if you run into issues, please enable the debug output in the mod's Options Panel. This might yield useful info. If you don't get any error messages in-game, the info is also saved to the output_log.txt: search this for the string 'Ultimate Eyecandy' (Control-F) to find all entries related to this mod;

- if you post an issue here, please include information such as your computer's configuration (CPU, GPU, RAM) and the operating system you use. Also try to explain as detailed as possible what exactly happened and what you did just before to the problem occurred.
The more information you include, the quicker I can - hopefully - trace and address the problem;

- this mod does not use any detours and has no impact on the simulation, so chances that it conflicts with other mods are small.

Thanks!

Hey man, installed your mod and used for some time. Very good so far, especially the hability to apply LUTs on the fly.

But I have one question, this mod disables dynamic wheater? I played for around 2 hours and had see no wheater change in my game.

Thanks.

Thanks, man :)

Currently the global Dynamic Weather (DW) setting (in the game's Options Panel) is tied to the mod in the following way: when you enable a weather setting or load a preset that contains active weather, DW will be enabled automatically (no point adjusting rain intensity when DW stays off, right? ;) Also, when you use the Reset-button in the Weather or Presets panel, DW will be turned off as well. These changes of DW are applied both to the mod settings and the global DW setting.

I am not 100% satisfied with the way this is handled right now, as it is a bit tricky to work out a system in which both the mod settings and global options don't overlap too much, so I may tweak some of this functionality.

If you have any suggestions for this, let me know!

I have i7, 16GB ram, gtx970, windows 10 pro.
Mods "dangerous" installed, hehe: "Rush hour" and "Enhanced Zoom Continued" (has FOV)..

In winter maps I do not see LUT winter.

-Issue:
In all maps (winter It is noted more), when I move sliders ambient: height, rotation, and brightness, giving reset does not return to starting point map, buttons yes, but no view original map.

It looks like sliders and neutral center position are not consistent or too sensitive. Sun no return in position, for exe. Sun goes where was put nothing more to touch slider, without even moving slider.

Posdata.- I have had more previous conflicts (such as clock time backwards or changing LUT not return to the original LUT), but after trying and restart several times game, I only have the problem outlined above.

Mmmm... that is weird.... I did occasionally notice some unexpected behavior when resetting all settings as well, but this behavior wasn't consistent, and therefor hard to reproduce and pinpoint. But I'll have a look at the reset functionality for the next version.

Did you get any errors (in the Debug Window - F7 key - or in the output_log)?

Thank you for your feedback!
Judazzz  [developer] Apr 28, 2016 @ 1:35pm
Ok, I investigated the issue a little further, and realized that the issue you are experiencing is caused by a wrong assumption I made: I thought that the default values for the settings in the Ambient panel (the one where you set the sun's height, intensity etc.) was equal to the center position of each slider. However, that was wrong: not only are the default values quite different from the center position values, it turns out that the winter biome has different default values than the non-winter biomes.

Based on this I made a few changes:
- the values that are applied when resetting all values (or when hitting the reset button in the Ambient panel), the sliders are set to the actual default values;
- when you load your city, the sliders in the Ambient panel will be set to the values that are active when loading the map. That means that the sliders are set to the actual default values instead of simply set to the middle values. And when you have the 'Load last preset' option enabled, the preset's values are applied to the sliders.

A temporary 'fix' to get around your problem is to go to the Ambient panel after resetting everything, and moving the Sun Height slider very far to the left or right (which one doesn't matter, as long as you move the slider away from the center position, which looks pretty crappy, especially on winter maps). If you still have bad visuals, experiment a little with the other sliders in that panel as well.

I will upload the updated version that auto-loads and resets to the correct settings as soon as possible - there are a a few other things I want to finish first, so it may take a few days.

Thanks once again for contacting me: the changes I made based on your feedback are a big (and much needed) improvement!

I'm glad. Thank you for this nice mod.
I see, nor F7 nor output_log have fails.

The best:of mod: has brightness for night with the last slider ambient ("ambient light intensity") and we can see map.
Besides, possibility constant rain captivates to me, hehe.

Hi, last update messed the ilumination in my game completely. Is all too bright now. I'm using Daylight Classic, the mod that soft the shadows by Boformer and Realistic Boreal LUT 1.2.
Judazzz  [developer] May 15, 2016 @ 3:35pm
Ok, thanks for reporting. I'll investigate asap.
Have you created any presets? If you apply them, do they all look messed up?
Blackdragonbird May 15, 2016 @ 3:43pm
No presets. Actually I have your mod only to change LUTs on the fly to take screens. No changes in the ilumination.

Hi Benzoll, can you be a bit more specific about when this error happened? Is there anything specific you did before you got the error, or did it occur when loading your city? Also, have you subscribed to any new mods recently that also deal with properties that can be changed with my mod?

I've tested a number of scenario's, and so far I have been unable to reproduce your error. What I tried is:
- using the mod with the CompassMod (as it was mentioned in your debug window) - appears to be compatible with my mod;
- loading an existing city (winter and non-winter);
- loading an existing city with a different environment using BloodyPenguin's Environment Changer mod (loaded a winter map as non-winter, and non-winter as winter);
- starting a new city (winter and non-winter);
- starting a new city with a different environment using BloodyPenguin's Environment Changer mod (started a winter map as non-winter, and non-winter as winter);
- deleting the configuration file and loaded an existing city;
- deleting the configuration file and started a new city.
In all of these scenario's I tested playing with the ambient/weather settings, loading a different LUT, loading an existing preset and creating a new preset.

@Blackdragonbird: I haven't been able to pinpoint your problem either, but I'm still investigating.
benzoll May 16, 2016 @ 9:33am
Error is with new map in all theme map.
I thought it was just in winter only.
Warning "compass mod" I have it before your mod, should not have relation.
Boreal, new map:

Errors:
-sliders "ambient"
-"presets" nothing comes out to do "click" mouse.

I go testing again eliminating "suspects" mods.

Mystery clarified, error occurs in any game (saved or new) when I load a 2nd "saved" or 2nd "new game" without leaving the game.

If I restart the game, does not occur.

Nice one, I'm glad you figured out what caused your problem!
To be honest, I never ever thought about that, even though I have the exact same problem: loading/starting a new a city after I've already loaded/started one before has never really worked for me, not even before I started working on my mod (so I'm pleased to hear it's not my mod that caused your problems :)
Thanks for reporting back, I really appreciate it!

@Blackdragonbird: I think I have traced the cause for your problem: Daylight Classic uses different default values for ambient- and sun-related settings, something I hadn't taken into account. I made a few tweaks and the mod should now load the correct values regardless of whether you use DC or not.
I still want to test it on my 'play city' with tons of mods to for compatibility-reasons and to double-check that I haven't overlooked anything, but I hope to release a patch tomorrow.

@Judazz. Good to know that you found the issue. Thank you. =)
