TAM Beta 1 - Release Notes
It's finally here: Welcome to TAM Beta 1!

First, what is TAM? It's a new mod that will supercede Network Extensions Project, Traffc++ and Improved AI mods. It's been developed collaboratively by the authors and artists behind those mods and several others.

You will need to disable the mods listed above as they will conflict with TAM. Also, make a backup of your cities - we've put a lot of effort in to making sure the beta is reliable, but it is still a beta and there will be some bugs that we've missed.

What you see in Beta 1 is not the full TAM - we will be adding some additional stuff in subsequent betas. The focus of Beta 1 is to test the core architecture of the mod and make sure it's working properly: Adding new network types (roads) in a consistent and reliable manner, detouring AIs/pathfinding in a reliable and consistent manner, the road customisation tools (and importing data from existing saves), and also that it handles turning add-ons on/off properly (in the mod options screen).

In this release:

  • 15 roads - including pedestrian, bus lanes, highways and turning lanes - see screenshots on Description tab for a full list (all of the roads from T++, NExt and a few new ones)
  • Extended roads menu - new tabs for bus roads, pedestrian roads, etc.
  • Tunnel rendering - initially just on some of the large road addons, but we'll be porting this to all roads as the beta progresses
  • Improved AI - traffic uses all lanes, better routing around traffic jams, and m♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s!
  • No Despawn - "hard mode" that prevents auto-despawning of vehicles in traffic jams (originally from Traffic Manager, via T++ and TM+IAI)
  • Road Customizer Tools - lane routing at intersections, vhicle restrictions and speed restrictions

IMPORTANT: Beta 1 contains the old, unoptimised (slow) T++ code. We'll be replacing that with the new optimised (fast) T++ code in a later beta (probably Beta 2 or 3).

Not in this release:

  • Multi-track station enabler - will be added in later beta, use this external mod for now (existing stations should be fine, but you won't be able to connect tracks to new ones without that mod or the next beta).
  • Cobble and paved brick roads - will be added in later beta
  • Traffic lights and priority lanes from TM - will try and get these added in later beta, although if we do they will work differently

All feedback and ideas are welcome! Please use the forums (Discussion tab above) and look for existing topics before creating a new one. You can post some info and pics publicly if desired, but please refrain from spamming reddit (we get complaints if there's too much mod-related stuff on r/CitiesSkylines).

TIP: To get the camera in to a rendered tunnel click a vehicle or person that's entering it and then click the camera icon on their info panel to follow them in. Some first-person camera mods handle tunnel journeys better than othes, please let us know which work and which don't.

Prepare your Skylines!!
