gmod physics are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid sometimes, freeze the shell before you let go of it so the speed gets set to 0, then when you unfreeze it it should (hopefully) stay in place.

Another tip I found useful is to quick weld a propellant to the back of the shell before putting it in, it guarantees it will fire and is one less step you have to do
