Maybe there should be a way to heal the Gnome. This would be expensive OR rare to find.

It's just that the gnome damage is a pretty important game mechanic. Having (mostly) irreversable damage is meant to put pressure on players to make sure that the gnome is protected all the time. I'm not sure on how successful it is though, i haven't gotten that much feedback.

Thanks for your ideas though.

how about a button that cost 50 its basically a shield that protects the gnome and the zombies around the gnome catch on fire

It's not a map. You need to select it from the Mutations menu.

Try removing any mods that modify the menu if you have any installed. Verifying your game cache might also work.
