I'd add some more suggestion tomorrow (I'm thinking about the Citadel of Jaca, the New Plant Acts and somemore ideas). Perhaps can number 5 trigger a chain of events? There are some nice stories regarding the Channel, like the Fountain of the Unbelivers... Number 6 also has many stories, but
I'll probably do a few for Spain/Castile/Aragon once I'm done with my current plans for Tuscany and Saxony. It does sound cool to have a few events trigger by the building of the channel, as a mini event chain. Considering it's in the last part of the game, it's even possible to have agricultural benefits from it be pretty significant without knocking the game world off balance.
Thanks for the help!
Event 7: The Citadel of Jaca
Country:Aragon/Spain after 1600 (extra chances if has a Truce with France)
"Several war with our neighbours from France has drawn to our attention the strategic position of Jaca. Controlling one of the few crossroad in the mountains, it is one of the key to the defense of th kingdom. Should we build a landmark of our power?"
A) A garrison is enough (-Prestige)
B) Hire the best military engineer (-Money, +Local defensivenes)
Ref: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciudadela_de_Jaca
Event 8: The foreign Viceroy
Country: Spain, if controls Zaragoza, Pirinees or Teruel/Aragon if under a PU with any country.
"The old laws of the country said that the king may be also king of other lands. But, if he is not ruling our lands, a local Vicerroy should be designed. It was always understood that that Vicerroy should be a man of this land, but the King is becoming more and more outlandish from this Kingdom and he is even considering to designate a foreigner for the position"
A) They are another property of the King (+Unrest in Pirinees, Zaragoza and Teruel)
B) Lets take a more subtle approach (+autonomy in these provinces)
Ref: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleito_del_virrey_extranjero
Event 9: Jeronimo Zurita
Country:Aragon/Spain if controls any aragonese province between 1500 and 1600
"A promising scholar has just started his career. He might be useful for us. Or maybe could we appoint him to record the glory of our kingdom"
A) Get Advisor (Philosopher type)
B) Promote him to oficial historian of the country (+administrative points)
Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jer%C3%B3nimo_Zurita_y_Castro
Event 10: Miguel Servet
Country: Spain/Navarre/Aragon between 1500 and 1600 and after reform has started.
"The Church has drawn our attention to a young Humanist whose research about human physiology is worth realizing. However, his religious views are heretical, even between the followers of Luther. The clergy wants his head, but our advisor encourage us to listen to him"
A) It is not the time to think about ortodoxy (Get Advisor Type Natural Philosopher)
B) That heresy should not be tolerated (+Papal Influence, a event for Switzerland takes place)
Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Servetus
Event 11: Baltasar Gracián

A) Of course, hire him! (Get advisor type Philosopher)
B) Let him do what his soul dictates (Get Admin points)
Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltasar_Graci%C3%A1n
There should be noted that we already have a chain here. Event 3 was greatly due to events 1, 2 and 8. When you have the final version we can chain this as a event chain to balance Spain PU with Aragon. It can represent what historically took place, with a gradual integration of aragonese goverment into a new spanish one, with several conflicts and rebellion between those who prefered old laws. If 4 events are few, we can make some more about the Justicia (references mainly in spanish, but https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_de_Lanuza_y_Urrea)
Numer 10 can trigger another event in a reformed country, since Servet fleed an took asylum abroad... to end executed by his heretical point of view in Switzerland.
This weekend I'll rewrite the event about the channel. It can cover the last part of the game, with Illustration. Aragon will get here 12-15 events and then I'll start suggesting about other spanish/portuguese regions.
I really appreciate stuff that's difficult to discover because there's limited material on it in English.
Most of these (possibly all) will be going into the Spanish update once I get around to it!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_II_of_France
"A secret clause signed by the queen provided that Scotland would become part of France if the royal couple did not have children" from Wiki on Francis II page. I would hope you could include the rough wooing to make a event chain to reflect the dynamic changes between England,France and Scotland
Event 1*: "For centuries, the dream of our people has been to reach the sea. Our manufactures and people have always used our river, the Ebro. But its water is variable and our engineers are excited with the new techniques used in foreign lands. Perhaps a channel like the french work in Midi will solve it"
A) This will be such a waste of effort. (-Prestige) (no more events)
B) Let see what can we do... (start events)
Event 2: "The channel works are slow and require constant money. The Count of Aranda, president of the Royal Council, has arranged the project to be financed by the goverment, despite its apparent high cost."
A) This is a project worth or royal patronage. (-Money, +Prestige)
B) We would run out of money if we accepted (-Prestige, the chain ends here).
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conde_de_Aranda#Edificaciones.2C_influencias_y_empresas_del_Conde_en_Espa.C3.B1a
Event 3: "Aranda trusted the project of the new channel to the clergy, Ramón Pignatelli. His mind is swift and he seems to trust the new ideas of Enlightenment. He advocates for new financial institutions for the poor, for cultural patronage of arts and for a reform of economy of education"
A) A good choice, indeed. (Get advisor, +admin points)
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram%C3%B3n_Pignatelli
Event 4: "Pignatelli has upset his colleagues with his new ideas. In order to get more funds, he granted exemptions for Chuch taxes next to the new channel. People had gathered with the promise of irrigated soil and a better future and a decision must be taken."
A) Trust Pignatelli (-Legitimancy, +1 base tax in Zaragoza)
B) The Holy Church must be respected (+Legitimacy).
Event 5: "The terrain is difficult in the proximity of the city of Zaragoza. There are big differences in height and the engineers are afraid cost can increase. However, some of them are hopeful this can bring more prosperity to the land, allowing more mills and fullings."
A) I've already spent too much in this project (project is cancelled)
B) A simple approach will be enough (- money)
C) Let's hear the engineers (-- money, +1 base tax in Zaragoza).
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esclusas_y_molino_de_Casablanca
Event 6: "After so many works, the new water has arrive Zaragoza. People are greeting the new infraestructure and skeptics have a small surprise. Pignatelli had name a fountain after them, the new Fountain of Unbelivers. Running with water from the new channel, the inscription says 'For delight of travelers and conviction of unbelivers"
A) I never had doubts! (++Prestige)

I think it is enough for Aragon currently. If you don't have better ideas, I can try to gather some events for Navarra also.
1) If Navarra has a female rule and Aragon a male one, some "iberian wedding" can grant Aragon a personal union like it happened with John II of Aragon and Blanche of Navarre.
2) If Navarra is under a personal union (because of 1) or other development), a major rebel stack can spawn, like the civil war Navarra had.
3) If it is with Aragon, Aragon could have another event to keep the union (but current ruler dies, heir takes the crown and some penalties in autonomy and/or unrest) or lose the union (AI choice), representing the clash between John II and his son, Charles, and his election of a new marriage (which lead to Ferdinand II being the heir)
4) If Navarra gets independency by winning the war in 2) of the event in 3), it should have an event which give Navarra the province of Bearn, representing the dynastic union with Foix.
It will allow both an historical develpment (lets remember Navarra in the 1492 has Bearn to represent this but can't manage that being AI controlled from 1444) and a bit more fun if you like alternate history playing (keeping the Aragon-Navarra union instead of a procastilian Aragon, or Navarra as a player having a more interesting chance to develop as a dynastic player in southern France).

Event 5): Saint Francisco Xavier
For: Navarra between 1500 and 1550 or Spain if Navarra doesn't exist if the Event Ignacio de Loyola has been fulfilled.
"A young noble man of our kingdom has follow Ignatio of Loyola in his missionary duties. But, even more, he has the dream of spreading the word of our Lord and Savior until the farthest lands."
A) For God leads his path. (Get diplo points, maybe random province in Japan get converted with some event for Japan).
Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Xavier
Then, maybe Navarra can get another subset of events related to their conquest by Spain, the creation of an independent kingdom of Navarra-Bearn and its unification with France. Something like:
6) If Navarra doesn't exist by 1512 and Spain controls the province of Navarra, an event splits Bearn from France or Spain for an independent Navarra (guaranteed by France).
7) I must check how the French War of Religion are scripted, but the Paris Worth...? Event should trigger another event for France for them to recover Bearn for free.
Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Navarre#Independent_Navarre_north_of_the_Pyrenees
Event 8: The Citadel of Pamplona
For Navarra or Spain if Spain controls Navarra. Same requisites as Event "Citadel of Jaca"
"Several war with our neighbours from France has drawn to our attention the need of a stronghold in Pamplona. The main city of Navarra is key to stop the enemy from reaching the defenseless land in the Valley of Ebro and so must be protected."
A) The curent garrison is enough (-Prestige)
B) Any effort will be worth it (-Money, +Local defensivenes)
Ref: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ciudadela_de_Pamplona
Unfortunately, many interesting events of Navarra are out of the timeline for a few years (the legal union of Pamplona in 1423, the building of the beautiful palace of Olite in 1420s, the several events of the Carlist War from 1833 onwards
1) Masaniello Event should take place also for Spain/Aragon if it controls any sicilian culture province. It actually happened to Spain, so is a bit of nosense to not restrict it to Naples.
2) Sicily had a major earthquake in 1693 (60,000 dead in Messina) so it is an interesting event for Naples/Sicily/Aragon
3) In 1753 Spain regained Naples and Sicily, but had to give it to a secondary lineage to avoid war with major european powers. I think an event for that. If Naples exists and has a regency or a weak claim heir, they can get a new heir from the dinasty of Aragon (or Spain if it doesn't exist)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_III_of_Spain#Conquest_of_Naples_and_Sicily
4) If Spain has had the event for Italian Wars, there is one curious history that can be scripted. In Spain it is called something that translates as "The finances of the Great Captain". When the King burocrats accused the main commander of the spanish army in Italy, Gonzalo Fernández de Cordoba, of not properly justifying the expenditures of the campaign, he comically answered something like:
"One hundred million in peaks and shovels to bury the dead enemy. One hundred and fifty thousand to pay clergy to beg for the souls of those dead in battle. One hundred thousand in parfumed gloves to avoid the soldier the smell of dead enemies. One hundred thousand to repair bells that knelled too much due to our victories. And, specially, one hundred million for the patient to answer this after we had given his Majesty a new kingdom"
It has become a traditional joke in Spain and can be a comic relief. Some event in which, if Spain is in the Italian War, you can choose between supporting your accountants fighting against corruption or your generals who don't care about money. And, if you support your accountants, you get that answer and losses prestige.
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuentas_del_Gran_Capit%C3%A1n
5) Something that has always bothered me. Spain got the Duchy of Milan after winning the Italian Wars but the game never works that way. Actually it is a complex matter, since the french king had dinastic rights to the duchy (he was of Visconti descent) so Spain was supportive of the Sforza. In the end, the spanish victory deprived France of Milan and made it simpler for Spain to directily appoint a gobernor. I'll write it with more detail next week.
6) Sardinia could get some flavour with the University of Cagliari, between 1600 and 1650.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Cagliari
7) Naples should have an event if in war against the Ottomans, remembering the siege of Otranto. It could be something like if the ottomans ocuppy any province of Naples in Italy before 1500, Naples can get some bonus (Holy War declaration, Hungary and Aragon called in) to represent the propagandist impact the executions in Otranto had.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottoman_invasion_of_Otranto
8) Spain, between 1600 an 1640 should have an event to plot against Venice. It can have the choice between doing nothing and plot. Then, lets say, 75% the plot goes wrong (-diplo relations with Venice) and 25% works (free carrack in Adriatic Sea, Venice have a hit in prestige). After that, Venice can have an event regarding the result, also
I'll translate you the details next week.
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjuraci%C3%B3n_de_Venecia
9) If Mantua has a regency or a weik heir claim between 1600 an 1700, Milan (or if it has been anexed by Spain, Spain) should have an event which gives a reconquest casus belli such as in the War of the Mantuan Succession
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_Mantuan_Succession
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjuraci%C3%B3n_de_Venecia
You've made covering that region/those countries a loooot easier for the mod!
