Bugs & Issues
Find any bugs or issues whilst playing with the Independence Mod? Let me know here, but make sure that its an issue with this mod and not a collision between other mods. Thanks.

I'm checking it out now. I have extended timeline installed and so I'll let you know if there's any conflicts.

I tried to play with the mod 5 times but my game kept on crashing before it was fully loaded.

Did it tell you any information before crashing or did EU4 just stop working?
Kaiser Chris May 30, 2015 @ 10:32pm
it said EU4 just stop working
Kaiser Chris May 30, 2015 @ 10:32pm
I figured that it was the mod because when i took it off the game loaded normally.

I'll look into it, what operating system are you running and how much RAM do you have? It could be a memory issue.

Seems okay I just can't form the nations. Is this compatible with Extended Timeline? That might be the issue. I've tried *everything* to form Texas and literally nothing worked. xD Can you clarify which nations need which provinces and which criteria needs to be met before the nations are created? That might help.

The Extended Timeline mod edits the regions.txt file, which I have edited in this mod to create my own regions. The decisions I made ask where the capital is using the regions I created, Extended Timeline is overwriting the regions I made and so the game is unable to check if the capital is in the regions, meaning that you can't meet all the requirements for the decision.
I feared this might be an issue and so I'll look into finding a fix. Thanks for letting me know.

No problem and I do have one very minor complain. After seeing the cultural changes based on location (like if Cali is placed in Mexico it's named something else. Not sure why.) but my complain is Texas. If placed in Mexico it's still just Texas, not Tejas which would have been the culturally appropriate name for an Hispanic Texas. Also, you used the Texas state flag instead of the Texas national flag. Like I said, very minor complaints. But really really good job. If those two things were changed then it would be even better. xD Texas national flag (entirely blue flag with a gold star in the center.) Anyway, those things don't really bother me cause you aren't from Texas and were likely unaware. But I did want to tell you because I talk too much about Texas history and for some reason wanted to leave a whole paragraph on your modding forum about it. lol <3 I'll keep following the mod, interested in where this is going.

Interesting, I'm not up on my Texan history so I didn't know there was a separate flag, so I might change that. Also there's no system for dynamically changing country names so I left it as Texas so that it works for everyone. I should probably make a discussion thing for suggestions and stuff.

I currently have a mac with 8 GB RAM. Also just to let you know i played that time EU4 with Conquest of Paradise, Wealth of Nations, and Res Publica DLC. Also my game was on patch 1.7.3 because i had some old save files that i still didn't complete from when i first got the game. The only mods I had on were the Classical and Baroque music mod along with the Historical country names mod. As for the Texas flag thing since I am a Texan myself I am perfectly fine with having our state flag be the flag for an independent Texas. Also the current flag was used by the Independent Texas from 1839 to 1846 and was used since then as a state. though i could understand Adistans complaint about spanish Texas being named Tejas the flag should be fine just the way it is.

The crashing is probably to do with using an old version as this mod mightn't be compatible with it, maybe some modding aspects just hadn't been added yet.

I was just checking in to see if you found a solution for the extended timeline issue? I really want to play this mod but without extended timeline it feels so limited for the some what modern nation. I was considering looking for a new mod similar to extended timeline and swapping them out. Don't know if that would work though. :p Also, I need to clean out my mod area (that is pretty off topic but it's messy right now. :p)

I really looked into ET compatibility and there is a major issue in that a lot of the province IDs in the americas are different to the standard game. I would have to compile a list of the changed provinces and then create a separate mod to address the issue. I considered creating a regions file to be placed in the Extended timeline directory, however this means I still have to check what province IDs have changed and without a province ID map this is a very long and tedious process.
I'm really happy that you want to use my mod, but the only way I see the two mods to work together is to have the ET mod developers to put my regions into their mod's regions.txt file, which is unlikely.

Okay, thank you for the reply. :) It's a great mod though and really well done. I played it without ET just to have a peek and I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. I look forward to seeing future mods from you. :D
