How to use Bipod?

Whenever I have the bipod attatched to the gun, I can't use it. What key uses the bipod?

Whenever it is possible to deploy it will say to press the use key (default E) at the bottom of the screen.

There has to be a prop or elevated ground in front of you to be possible to deploy.
