Complete step-by-step mod walkthrough (SPOILERS)
Here's an indepth guide for anyone having trouble figuring out this awesome, but EXTREMELY cryptic and unintuitive mod. I hope this helps. I have absolutely nothing to do with the mods creation, and kudos to the modder, great job, I just got annoyed of not being able to find a more in-depth guide than "Go to the place and do the thing".

1. Go just North of Obedience, maybe slightly Northeast. It should show up as a map marker like "Mysterious base". Once you enter, it should say "A.E. Base" or outpost or something like that. It's an ancient citadel/lab building. Now, I would suggest bringing about 5-10 EXTREMELY strong characters with you, with very high quality gear. Before going in, I would suggest making a base as close as possible to this outpost so you can set up healing beds, a research bench (to research A.I. Emotion Matrix), a robotics bench, some prisoner jail cells or poles and a peeler machine. These MF'ers are not only totally OP, but they also heal like they were constantly in a skeleton bed, so the Peeler (I used the 'burned alive pole' because ♥♥♥♥ them) is the easiest way to kill them.

2. SAVE YOUR GAME BEFORE YOU ENTER THE LAB! The next part is COMPLETELY inconsistent. Again, your entire team will get absolutely BODIED if you all just run in there. General Chunis and his 3(?) Hounds may attack you on site for no reason. I'd suggest being polite to him at first so he'll give you the "A.I. emotion matrix" blueprint. Why this is part of the quest? I have no idea. Then quickly get back to your base. Make the item. Don't do it in their lab or they will suddenly attack you for no reason.

3. SAVE GAME AGAIN if you got this far. Go back to the A.E. base. The General might be on the first or third floor, hopefully the first. Now he's going to turn on you for no reason other than to be a mustache twirling villain, I guess. Here, I'd suggest taking only one character to interact with him, preferably your fastest, do the nonsense dialogue, and they will attack you. Run. I'd suggest putting harpoon turrets on your base and have everyone else shoot at them from afar while the one in the lab kites them around the perimeter of the building exterior. This should stun lock at least one (yes, stun lock, as it will do zero damage to them). Have your character run out of the base AND CLOSE THE GATE. Find one of the baddies that's by themselves, open the gate, lure them outside of the gate (I'd send 2-3 characters as backup too), then get them to follow you outside of the citadel fencing, then IMMEDIATELY close the gate. Jump the Hounds or Chunis til unconscious. I, personally, had my whole squad using katanas and falling suns. The enemies seem to have a hard time overcoming being stabbed by two people with katanas while two more mollywhop them with falling suns. Take them back to your outpost. Place them in the Peeler. They heal too fast to continuously wait for them to gain consciousness and fight. Put their armor and weapons on your lead character, as the armor can negate basically 99% or most damages and their own weapons are the best at killing them, ironically. Repeat this until they're all dead. Supposedly one of them has a map on them to the A.E. Factory, but I've only found it once, and it put a marker on the Leviathan Coast, but there was literally nothing there. I'll tell you exactly where it is shortly.

SPOILERS---------------

4. There's a guy in a 'hibernation tank' on the 3rd floor. Hard to miss. DON'T FREE HIM. I've played this three or four times (and MANY save scums) and his name is always "Hrak". I've heard you can just interact with him if you have the A.I. emotion matrix, and the red and blue chip looted off Chunis' body. That didn't work for me. I had to free him. Attack him until unconscious (again, close the lab gate behind you or he will run away). Place the A.I. emotion matrix chip that you researched, and made at the robotics bench earlier, into Hrak's inventory, put him back in the tank, and wait for him to wake up. Now he *should* interact with you.

5. Now you're ready to head to the factory. It's located in NORTHERN (Northwest specifically) SINKUUN!!! Not sure why no one else has stated that yet. It's hidden in some mountains. The soldiers here have red armor instead of blue, and they are even more powerful. And there's an entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ army of them, so assaulting this location would be like barging into the throne room of the Emperor of Mankind with a bunch of amused Adeptus Custodes casually watching you do this, just waiting for the right moment to wipe your entire squad (if you're familiar with Warhammer 40K references).

6. I would HIGHLY suggest building another outpost nearby with beds and safety. For example, I built an outpost just slightly Southwest of their factory, just on the outskirts of their territory.

7. Supposedly, you can put Hrak in the General's gear as a disguise, and he can walk into the base with no worries. I've never once experienced this. Every time, even when it says 100% disguised, the Ancient Empire was either immediately hostile, or the only option I'd be given when I cursor over literally anyone would be "Attack" or "Attack all", and the cursor has stayed red over the course of an in game week. So, I have no idea how you're supposed to buy anything from them, but you can go in disguise and steal ♥♥♥♥ from them, and you're definitely going to want their weapons and equipment if you plan on making a kill team to take over the entire continent.

How I navigate the inability to buy ♥♥♥♥ from them---

8. I've had a constant -91 reputation with the Ancient Empire Faction and have no idea how to raise it. Even the recruit anyone "increase my standing with your faction." dialogue line isn't possible because you can't kidnap anyone at the base. Not sure why not, but you can't stealth K.O. them, and if you stab them unconscious, kidnapping isn't an available prompt. So, If your team is all high level (and preferably high in numbers), here's what I do...
Just like before, take your fastest (and now decked out in extremely powerful armor and weapons). SAVE YOUR GAME. Take a shot at one of the 5 gate guards in front of their base (also, I'd suggest leaving Hrak out of this fight, and on his own squad, so he can still at least enter the base freely to steal ♥♥♥♥ later), run back a bit, away from their base and towards yours. They'll all chase after you. Immediately jump them with your gang (sans Hrak). As soon as ANY of them go unconscious, IMMEDIATELY (I mean as soon as it happens) loot their gear and outfit your team. At a certain distance, they'll only send one or two infrequent patrols every few minutes, thus adding to your weapons and armor collection. I would also stay and try to kill all of the little annoying naked robot clones too, because they will remember you forever, and narc on you even if you're in disguise. Fill up your backpacks, and rush back to your base to heal and SAVE YOUR GAME. Now you can also sneak in other characters to help steal ♥♥♥♥, just don't interact with literally anyone.

9. PROFIT. You can repeat this just about once or twice a day, and your team will gain more experience fighting them, so it'll become easier and easier. Eventually you see a ton of naked clones running around the base doing random ♥♥♥♥. I can't emphasize enough how hard these guys are to kill, but I have about 20-30 sets of armor and weapons now to outfit all of my squads. Fighting them is super fun. I really wish the mod was less cryptic, but the armor and weapons look ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome, and I feel like it definitely fits in with the "first empire" theme.
You can steal the (2) blueprint sets from safes around the base. I think I found them in the second building (center of three) relatively often. There might be more, but idk. If there's a weapons blueprint, I've never seen it and can't buy ♥♥♥♥ from them.
Here's the items the Titan Guard (red armor guys) tend to drop, and what you can steal from all of the chest and weapon racks that I've seen so far at least.
1. A super OP saber.
2. A super OP polearm.
3. A super OP heavy weapons sword.
4. Belt lanterns. Idk.
5. A super OP secondary blade (I'm guessing it's listed as katana class).
6 A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gun! About half of them drop a gauss rifle, and there's tons of ammo to steal in the middle of the three factory shop buildings. So, a super OP 'crossbow'. And if you're on the receiving end of it in a 1v1, you will need to save scum because you're 100% going to die.
7. The super OP swords and katanas you got from Chunis and the Hounds can also be found in chests occasionally.
8. You can also find really awesome backpacks in some of the locked boxes and safes.
9. Gauss rifle ammo.
10. Titan Guard armor set (red). There's no reason to use stealth ever again after this. Just go loud! Because once you and your squad are decked out in Ancient Empire drip, you've become the Kenshi equivalent of a squad of Space Marines, and you shall know no fear. Happy cratering, everyone!

I hope this helps.

If only there were more weapons, and blueprints to build them!!! Hopefully in the future. I really hope the mod dev continues expanding on this. Great mod!

ANOTHER SPOILER-----

EDIT: None of your characters can wear the "symbiote crimpers" that the Titan Guard/Rangers wear, however, you can get the blueprints from them in one of their locked safes to craft an "Imitation crimper aid", to craft at a robotics bench, that looks just like theirs and has extremely similar stats at Masterwork levels. They boost your stats quite a bit and provide 100% full body (I'm pretty sure, at least) coverage/protection.
Once you've claimed your first set of red armor, have someone good at robotics start churning out those imitation crimper aids. Now you can outfit anyone with a shirt slot in a 100% disguise + turn them into a one man army. It's a good idea to look at whatever weapon the Titan Guard or Ranger you're about to attack is wearing; Titan Guards genuinely carry sabers, and some times polearms, or heavy swords. Titan Rangers carry gauss rifles. It's pretty easy to spot the difference. Again, I can't emphasize how quickly the Rangers/gauss rifles will murder your entire squad. They do like 300-400+ damage, reload once per second, and can shoot about twice the distance of the Eagle's Cross. Fighting one of them with a whole squad outside of melee range is a problem, fighting two at range is a death sentence (until you steal your own gauss rifles, which only stun locks the Guards/Rangers long enough for your melee fighters to close the gap). Make sure you're directly next to (like, within kissing distance) of Rangers before attacking them and you should be able to quickly overwhelm them, especially if you have a few Titan Guard sabers on your squad. I'd suggest doing the same with the Guard too. If your entire squad knocks one of them out while surrounding them, I've found the rest tend to not react until you steal their ♥♥♥♥. So, you basically want to insert your squad into one of their teams (like the 5+ guards at the main gate), and have everyone systematically attack them one at a time, then steal their ♥♥♥♥ afterwards, but this needs to be done extremely quickly - *stab* *bleh!* PAUSE - repeat - loot.
I think one of the named characters (Ruvoxs? Something like that) is the only one wielding an awesome unique sword. I gave it to Hrak and he basically one shots everything now.

If you want to test out the absolutely devastating efficiency of the gauss rifles, send like 2-4 people to Mongrel with them, go to the nearest Death Yard, and watch entire hordes of fog men try desperately to get within melee range. You can liquidate the entire Death Yard in about 30 seconds. I did this on Genesis, where there's like 100x more fog men, and the gate guards were so bored, they went to the bar.

If you want to keep the "vanilla Kenshi experience" because it's your first playthrough, or you're some kind of gatekeeping elitist that demands everything be balanced, I would suggest waiting until the end of your playthrough (like the very end, because this is already end game content) to do the AES quests. And have fun!

None of my characters can equip the Mechnical vanguard "optic" helmet is there something I am missing?
Lord_Beefcastle Sep 13, 2024 @ 2:21pm
Do you have any robots in your squad? They should be able to equip them. You really only need one person to go into the base in disguise, assuming you have a positive rating with the AE faction, and that "one person" is basically what Hrak is for.

Sorry, *Skeletons* lol.

Thanks for the guide! I'm having an issue after getting the blue blueprint/book, where after I put it in my level 6 workbench, it says that I still need something called "the revival of the mechanical vanguard"

No worries, I'm glad someone found it useful = ) . Ok, so General Chunis is supposed to have that blueprint on him when you loot him. It's for crafting your own blue sets of armor at your own heavy armor smithy. There's also another blueprint for crafting several different crimper symbiotes as well, but I'm not sure if Chunis has it, or it's at the A.E. main base. I had an issue where either he didn't have it, or he just wouldn't even spawn. Are you familiar at all with using FCS (Forgotten Construction Set) for making your own mods lol? This is my easiest work around. You can either 1. Keep save scumming until Chunis has the blueprint on him, or 2. (Like I did) Make an extremely simple mod to add that item (and whatever other blueprint items might not show up) to bar vendors, or your character's inventory. I just picked "Bar" in FCS because 1. they're everywhere, and 2. I don't know enough about FCS to deal with such minor details as editing character's inventories. It's super easy. Try googling "How to add items in FCS Kenshi" and Shidan's guide should pop up, Atlas also has some good guides for making "Recruit ANYONE" mods, and the concept is tangentially related in FCS, except instead of recruiting anyone within the mod, you're making every bar *potentially* carry the blueprints you need within the mod. I think I named mine "Blueprint Bar.mod". It takes like maybe 3 mins when you understand it, and is totally worth it, as you're going to need that armor to NOT get murdered by the Titan Rangers. It makes things much easier to have 20 dudes in blue (mechanical vanguard) armor bonking five Titan Guard/rangers, than trying to gank one of them with 2-4 characters in armor.

Feel free to ask if you need anymore help, buddy.
Lord_Beefcastle Sep 19, 2024 @ 5:13pm
Edit: I put ALL of the blueprints in this mod into my minor FCS mod, so all of them will eventually pop up at a Bar, so that should cover everything you need. Just FYI - You cannot build the red Titan Guard/Ranger armor or weapons, that's why you need to beat down all of them and take theirs. High risk, high reward.

No worries, bro. You're very welcome. Hope it helps.

Does anyone know if it's possible to craft Crimper Aids (the red one) for vanilla human race? I can only craft the blue ones so far. I can't buy from the Ancient faction either
Lord_Beefcastle Nov 11, 2024 @ 3:05pm
@Wu Yanzu - TL:DR You have to craft the 'Crimper Imitation Aid' at a chainmail armor bench. It only has about half of the buff stats the real one does, but you can be fully disguised.

1. I've never been able to get the disguises to help me at all, nor have they allowed me to buy from their shops. Every time I speak to anyone, their only response is "Who are you?", even as Hrak in Chunis' armor. So I always have to attack them for gear.

2. I made a quick patch with Recruit Anyone in FCS that allows me to kidnap and recruit Titan Guard/Ranger troops, if you want to use the real crimper aids. I also recruited Chunis, Bhaira, Hek, and Dorma along with Hrak in the ancient lab. The Titan Guard don't seem to aggro very easily towards them. It only takes a few mins to make the patch in FCS. Just add every character and race from AES into a Recruit Anyone patch, and change their race settings from "Can be carried" = "No" to "Yes", and "Is a Skeleton" to "Yes". I'd post the patch on Steam, but I haven't fully tested it, and I think certain interactions cause the game to crash, but now I usually corner the first few Rangers I see when they're alone, chasing someone away from their base, with about five characters (3 with strong melee, two ranged to stun lock them), then you can start knocking them unconscious, putting them in prisoner cages, and creating your own Android army that can wear the real crimpers, just make sure you strip their armor off (and put their armor in a crossbow locker so it loses it's "stolen" tag) first before you recruit them or it will lose its disguise settings, some how. Once you have about five fully armored androids, you're basically unstoppable.

3. If you want to customize your androids so they don't all look exactly the same, export all of your characters in the character creation/plastic surgeon screen and try out the characters already able to be imported in the character customization screen. They won't look exactly the same, since they're a different race model, but you can get different hairstyles and alter their faces to look more unique.

Maybe I overread something up there, or my english ain't what it used to be but: You are aware that the first blueprint you get from Chunis also unlocks the entire Vanguard armor set in the Heavy Armor Forge, right?

Absolutely no need to go through all that hassle trying to beat Chunis and his hounds to get those. Weapons I dunno yet, but the armors are all there, only thing I had to FCS was the Optics helmet - you can build it, but as-is, it's race-restricted to AE Android race, even if the description says skeles should be able to wear it. But as with most headgear, it looks like **** on skeles anyway^^ (at least my soldierbots - they got their log-heads sticking out the front).

And one silly idea on how to raise rep with Ancient Empire: Copy+paste one of the other diplomats (Shek/HN/UC Pacifier), make it an AE skele, sit it in the bar in Black Desert City. Maybe cheesy but would make the most in-game sense. All other big factions have em, why not AE skeles too?

Alright, took a longer look at this in the FCS. There are no weapon blueprints anywhere, and no armor blueprints for the Titan armors either.

There is a blueprint vendor list however for one of the Titan shopkeepers, and it isn't too hard to make the missing blueprints in FCS and throw them in that list. That way you have at least a chance to get all the good stuff without the hassle of fighting these crazy Ancient Empire freaks^^.

Thiefing from these dudes is still a non-trivial undertaking, even for a master thief with 95+ stealth/thievery. These titanic jerks have pretty high perception and there's a ****-ton of them running around that "Factory" town.

One other thing, dunno if the mod got an update since, but the Titan Factory map marker popped up correctly in Sinkuun after reading the map from Chunis.
There's only one other map in the mod (dunno where to find it), which leads to Chunis and his 3 buddies in the Vanguard Outpost.

@iriemk - in FCS the blueprints are in (I think?) Japanese at the bottom of the listing. So I made a patch for the 3(?) blueprints available in the game, that I could readily find. So usually Chunis has the map for the Titan Factory and (usually) his journal. For my patch, I made it so the AI emotion Matrix BP spawns at Bars, as well as the --- something like "Mechanical Revival Program" (This allows you to build blue Titan armor) something or other, and the Faux Crimper BPs (since that BP is right in the middle of the Titan Factory, and there's just no way to steal it without getting caught and having your team wiped). I think there's supposed to be a greeting between Hrak (assumably in Chunis' armor) and the gate guard that grants you access to their stores, but in 6+ playthroughs, this has never been the case. The easiest way to kill them - I made another patch to just pick them up, jail them, and recruit them with the Recruit Anyone mod. It takes like 10 mins to makes and it saves a ton of ass pain later when you systematically liquidate everyone on the base in a fit of rage.

As for the map to the Titan Base, I rarely find it, but when I have I think it's usually in Black Scratch.

The Mechanical Revival blueprints (which you probably won't find), I think you might be able to research it after AI Emotion Matrix. I can't recall. If you outfit like 5-10 characters in this armor, pick off a few stragglers or attack all of the gate guards at once, you should have enough red Titan armor to start an apocalypse.

Also, yeah you have to edit the Guard/Rangers in FCS to knock them out, and even then you need an extremely high level and gear buffs. They, themselves have a Stealth level of, I think 1000(?), and there Assassination level is 1500, so they are basically invincible to stealth tactics. I'd post my patch, but I have some bugs I can't figure out, like sometimes the AI bugs tf out when I place one of them in a prison cage, and if I have multiples in cells, they will all (including the ones on the base) begin to berate you for stealing their ♥♥♥♥ lol. And I keep getting a few crashes here here and there, but I highly suggest making a patch to spawn those BPs at every/any Bar vendor, and changing the Androids ability to be knocked out, picked up, and recruitable. 1 is a force to be reckoned with. 30 with gauss rifles is a hostile takeover of the entire continent lol.

@Lord_Beefcastle: Think you misunderstood me. I played this completely unaltered at first, before messing with it in FCS. So this is how it went:

I walked into the Vanguard Outpost and talked to Chunis, and without further ado, he gave me the "Revival of the Mechanical Vanguard". That is an actual item (looks like ancient science book), which the research topic named "Revival of Mechanical Vanguard Program" requires as an "ingredient" in your research bench.
Once researched, that immediately gave me access to forge the blue armors in my Heavy Armor Smithy. No hassle, no fuss. Just that first one to be able to forge all the armor.

On top of that, once Revival of Mechanical Vanguard Program was done, it opened up three more research topics:
- "AI Emotion Simulation Program" (that's the one that let's you make the chip)
- "Crimper Portable Program" (crimper symbiote & fake crimpers / chain bench)
- "Ancient Items Storage Program" (the blue cloaks/backpacks / clothing bench).

No blueprints or anything else required.

Then I went back to Chunis, but before talking to him I looted all containers in his place, and found the map to Titan Factory in a box, not on his person (more on that further on). After that and reading how bugged the part with Hrak is, I didn't bother to mess with Chunis or Hrak at all. Just went to the Titan Factory right away. Got a cryptic hint in that conversation with the gate guard, about needing an item or person to confirm ID. Ultimately they wouldn't let me in without said "proof of identity" though. But since I decided NOT to bother Hrak & Chunis, I thought I'd try the thief route.

So I took my fastest & sneakiest thief, slapped everything stealth & athletics boosting I could find on her, waited till nightfall, saved, then sent her racing in. Checked the shop layout, went directly to the 1st floor, into the corner where the safes are, behind the static guard. And all three shops are exactly the same layout, so it works equally well in all of em.
If you run into the armor shop first, and loot some cloaks/packs, you can even carry it all out on your own. Otherwise, sit the rest of the squad just outside the wall behind the shops and transfer, it's close enough to "throw it over the wall"^^. BUT: You gotta get outta there before the sun comes up, otherwise them red-a** jerks are gonna gut you right quick.

Now all that was before I started fiddling with the thing in FCS. I did that to the translation mod btw, not the japanese OG mod; that one has it all in perfectly understandable english^^.
Making & adding blueprints of all the weapons & armor to shop loot was the easy part of it, that's just copy+paste, edit two lines and throw them in a vendor list. The OG mod only has 2 blueprints, imitation Crimper Aid & Imitation Crimper Symbiote, but not weapons and not the red armors.
To really get forging them blades, I had to re-teach myself how to properly implement new weapongrades into the forge, to make both Atomic & Thermal blades forgeable in the comfort of my own home. That took the better part of last sunday. Now I'm on the hunt for a mod that adds a better forge model, to match the weapons/armor that come out^^.

And during that endeavour, I looked through all the stuff the mod had or didn't have, that's how I found the map to the Titan Factory was shop loot, not an item Chunis (or his hounds) is supposed to carry on his person. And like I said, it placed the marker correctly in Sinkuun. The other map in the mod can pop in every adventure shop, but that only leads to Chunis' outpost. Dunno how you got that phony marker in Levi coast.

EDIT: Those who can RTFM have a clear advantage^^.

Obviously I can't...The mod description states it: "The newly added armor manufacturing blueprint needs to be obtained through correct dialogue with the guards, The triggering of dialogue requires a tech level." Doesn't state which tech level, but I still suspect it has to do with robotics. So iffen you go far enough in the tech tree before meeting Chunis, you can get the blue armor without a fight.
