Hardlight Shield: An inexpensive variant of the shield generator that projects a wave of solid energy/light. Unlike most shields, it has a much lower penetration resistance.

Chaff Disperser: Shotgun-like turret that fires a spread of close-ranged scrap metal. The scrap is charged the same way a disperser would, causing electrical damage to ship parts.

Thermite Burner: The flamethrower, but it's sparkly, uses Sulfur for ammo and has a higher penetration/damage output.

Bombshell Bay: Imagine the vanilla Mines for the launcher, but instead of mines it's slow, unguided bombs that explode on impact.

Howitzer: A railgun-like cannon that takes up double the width of the railgun, firing long-ranged explosive shots instead of penetrative shots.

Mortar: Long ranged and inaccurate cannon, it's bullets are slow but durable and pack explosives inside.

Autocannon: Heavy big machinegun :) (DONE!! Might make a roof version.)

Projectile Dampener: Very durable shield that has practically zero penetration resistance. It's big, wide, and almost invisible, and it's job is to trigger the "Penetration Slowdown" of bullets instead.

Rotary Vulcan: Chaingun but it's the size of a deck cannon. This will go well I think
Might ask that Rotary Cannons dude if I can use his stuff..

A funny rotary long machine gun, just like mix of chaingun but in body of small machinegun but longer on one tile + can be passed through armor, can only fire once fully loaded, instead of increasing speed while shooting has a rev up time. would be neat on one gun run fighters

Some sort of "CRAM" cannon similar to the one in from the depths could be cool to see. Maybe have it function like the chain gun by having adjacent CRAM packers to increase explosive damage.

Is it possible for a weapon to have an AOE code (so that a Mortar could actually deal death from above, able to bypass armor and shielding and shoot at targeted parts...at the cost of accuracy), or is that not possible with current Cosmoteer weapon codes?

I think a short range thruster weapon would be funny. So it would do absolutely loads of damage however it is literally a thruster so it has huge knockback. I think it would be fun to play around with cause its a ramming weapon that actively pushes you away.

reminds me of a weapon from a mining game, what was it called... Delta-V Rings of Saturn?

How about a massive (4x6) deck-mounted mine launcher, much like a vehicular mine deployment system, launches numerous mines at once.

A slightly more complex than in the game, it will first launch a massive rocket loaded with a large number of mines, and then the rocket will scatter mines in all directions
