1.5 Update is out!
Hello everyone!
The long awaited 1.5 Update is out! In addition to the obvious compatibility with the big changes of Victoria 1.5 here are some other important points.
Known problems
  • [Fixed!] At the start of the new game some dropdown lists are not initialized due to the bug in vanilla. All the workarounds I came up with are much worse than the simple one on the user end - save and reload the game once. The problem only arises at the new game creation and never on loading an existing game, so immediately saving and loading the freshly created game solves the problem convenientely.
  • Construction balance of military buildings is not calculated with all the consequences for prices etc. Unfortunately the game doesn't give any access to the type of unit in the barracks under construction and all the workarounds I came up with did not work, even very convoluted and CPU intensive ones. My only hope is that this balance would not heavily affect the resulting prognoses, as, for now, there is no appropriate solution. And we will just wait for the next patches, where this access may appear at least in some form.
New features!
While playtesting the game I couldn't help myself and implemented at least some functionality to deal with the new local prices mechanics.
  • Goods tooltips were enhanced with local price prognosis.
  • State bottom now also has local goods local price prognosis and an update button (no auto on opening there to save CPU).
  • Map list now has new modes - produced and consumed goods. Those show local prices prognosis for the goods of the building in the state. Related sorting is of course available.
  • Map list also has another new mode - Prognosis+. This one substitutes usual prognosis of price, productivity and max base wage with the new "+" version. It gives respective values as if the building would be built in that state, so you can decide which one is the best place. Related sorting is also available.
  • And yet another feature in Map list - Example building. Ctrl+click on the state with a building to select one and it will be used in calculating various values, when there is no building in the state yet (not even queued). For example, it is utilized when determining Prognosis+ for the states with no buildings.
Future plans
Currently game doesn't spark much interest in me so it is unlikely that any big features will be released any time soon. However, here is what I'd like to do:
  • Fix the construction balance for military buildings somehow. Maybe the devs will release the required access, or may be I'll figure something else out.
  • Fix new game initialization of dropdowns. Done!
  • Support the vanilla updates. At least the ones, that don't significantly break the mod.
