If there's other issues, please let me know!
Future updates to this mod will also flesh out Morse's Recruited dialogues as well, I hope to make him as expressive as another favorite character, Beep!
Quick Fix to make this not... broken lol.
Last update for a bit, as I'm going to rewrite a lot of the dialogue to make it less... Emo
Lol... yeah... My bad.
No, you don't need to advance the quest with this particular person. Spoilers: It's meant as a diversion to throw players off, since Morse has a timer. He has a bounty and some nice loot in his house, which can further take up your time... (everything is locked up behind decently hard locks) You can also use the beds and the free training equipment around Dave's house, once everyone's been dealt with...
If you loot this character, Big Dave, he has an item you can ask Morse about which should explain more. ("The Letter from Big Dave", it should be the top choice in his lists of dialogue if you speak with Morse after you take the letter...). I might rewrite this particular dialogue if players have issues kinda figuring out the puzzle, it currently has light filler text that needs a rewrite anyways.
Up to you if you want to try and reload a save, but it's not very important. I suppose next playthrough you can experience it as intended lol...
I'm glad you're playing it and giving feedback! I'm playing the quest myself a few times and picking different choices to make sure everything works correctly.
I'm currently tweaking very small things and will update as I find more. Next big update will be to fill out his "Generic" dialogues, such as entering towns and just random stuff he'll say as he moves around (to also help you find him, should he roam off somewhere).
Currently though, I'd say like 99% of the work is already done and implemented, besides small rewrites of dialogue and maybe some tweaks to various loots and such.
The only mild issue I might point out is how Morse is def a HN babeh, and it seems silly to me he would be absolutely alright with gifting Holy Flame book to a group of 20 skelebroz without even one comment ;D
Lol that's a good point... I suppose I wanted to make him a reformed HN citizen, although yeah maybe after everything is pretty much done / fixed with the mod, I'll do some dialogue lines that reference skeletons if you happen to be one.
(Would also make more sense too, since there's like 0 skeletons in this area, so he might be more hesitant or something in the beginning when first talking to you. Make a more unique intro if you happen to be a skeleton, hiver, etc. Would be pretty easy to add additional lines to his initial recruitment speech)
And some dialogue in this ending has some weird timing issues where certain lines don't fire, I probably messed up a score bonus or something somewhere
No problem, thank you for letting me know! I noticed this was an issue as well, I'm working on creating the "Definitive" edition patch which will fix all bugs and pretty much rewrite the entire quest (as a lot of people here and on discord were having issues with the writing being... pretty confusing and I agree lol).
It should be released hopefully today or tomorrow (update to this mod).
Check out the new update!
It's now the 'Definitive Edition' as I've pretty much rewrote / redid a huge portion of the mod to make it far better as a Player!
-The NPCs all have pretty high quality weapons and armor for the area this takes place and the difficulty level of the quest. Mostly Standard quality would make more sense.
-Most of the NPCs you encounter have Advanced first aid (should be basic for most and standard for the "boss" characters).
-Most NPCs have robot repair kits, which is unnecessary since there are no skeletons or robot limbed characters in their groups.
-Morse should not have a Meitou quality weapon. It should be Masterwork III Edgewalkers class at most. Meitou quality weapons are end game and require defeating NPCs with combat skills 60+ to obtain.
The story is very good, but you end up with a lot of mid to late game stuff, which you can keep or sell off for a considerable profit and relatively low effort.
Thank you for all of the suggestions, they're very good!
For the NPCs having high level gear, I can easily change that, which I will do in a future update (pretty soon I'll release an update which will fix this and a few other things, I'm going to rewrite some of the dialogues to get rid of the excessive ... ellipses everywhere lol)
For the Adv. First Aid / Robotics Kits, that was mostly accidental it seems, I meant for them to only have light bandages and such. Thank for you letting me know!
For Morse, the reason for his Meitou is a story element. If you ask Morse about his Sword, he may be able to further elaborate. The description text on the sword itself also might highlight additional information. (I did consider a Edgewalker originally, but I wanted his sword to be truly unique. The "Meitou" grade is really only in name, in FCS I made an entirely new weapon grade only for this sword, so it's easier to balance and such. I'll try and lower the overall stats of the sword to not make it as strong)
The prices of things are somewhat more balanced in using my "Roleplaying" collection as well (as well as unique looks for all of the NPCs). But, I will lower the actual quality so it's not just free money.
Thank you for letting me know you like the story as well, as an amateur writer (this was my first real release of any writing I've done lol), it means a lot that you actually like it.
