3.0 is Coming! What You Need To Know
FYI: The 3.0 Update is coming very soon! Release will coincide with the Crystal Project beta-branch being pushed live (so it won't require the beta-branch at all).

As a casual warning, it is HUGE. I am not exaggerating when I say it's practically a new mod in this state. And possible save compatibility issues are just unavoidable not just due to how Crystal Project handles things under the hood, but due to changes in progression.

For example, the update will have a new license system to enable spells. Existing saves can just go to shops and buy the new licenses no problem, but it's just one of many changes that could impact progression.

So re: existing saves, I highly recommend backing up the existing version (2.599) and continuing on that. On update things may be just fine, things may not, it's honestly impossible to tell. Besides, there is so much new stuff to find, and fight, and there are dialogue rewrites, etc, that a new save probably makes much more sense.

This is me doing my due diligence. I'm excited this is finally releasing!

New suggestion threads and guides will be created when it's released. If you have any questions, I'll answer them here.

wait how "Soon" is soon? should i stop my current run and hold out? im only about 8 hours in and a chunk of that is grind so should i just wait till your next update? is it a few weeks or months?

River has said he plans on pushing the update to Crystal Project by the end of this week. When that happens, I'll be pushing my update as well.

got it. i'll discontinue my current run then. (thank god for the extra options to speed past the grind like 300% LP x.x )

He may have pushed the release back, as he pushed an update to the beta yesterday and only the beta.

I'll give it maybe a few days longer tops. Worst case scenario I just release next week and for a while it will require the beta branch of Crystal Project. It definitely isn't my intent to make everyone wait for much longer though- the release is currently so big that I can't work on any of the new stuff I want to do until what is here is live. So I have incentive to release it sooner than later!

ah i was wondering! its funny i just happened to check here 2 hours after your most recent post. i was going to invest my weekend into this but i guess i'll wait.

btw odd question, idk if you would know the answer to this but, i was using the Fell Seal classes mod and one of the "Gadgeteer" uses special key items to unlock its abilities. do you know if your mod is overwriting shops and making those items hidden/missing? i found one at some point during my previous gameplay but i cant figure out if it was an enemy drop for in a chest and i cant find info on their page x_x

i'll ask them too but i thought id try asking you as well.

The previous version doesn't overwrite shops, but 3.0 will edit every vanilla shop in the game (because there is a gear overhaul attached to it as well). If Fell Seal classes requires items from vanilla shops to function, that'd make it incompatible :(.

Though by loading Fell Seal after FF Project, Fell Seal's shop changes should override any I may have made (I don't believe they are so substantial that it will cause issues) and resolve this issue.

EDIT: I've looked into Fell Project Seal; it's an Overhaul that replaces vanilla jobs among other things. In this case, I can't guarantee any compatibility with FF Project at all unfortunately.

thats odd. i didnt notice any class overrides. rather, i had access to Thief and Scoundrel separately and so on. do they state there are class overrides or do they just have equivalents to each class?

edit: i'll play around with it when you release your update to see what happens but im pretty sure they are just parallel classes, not overrides. as for the shops, i'll also try it in both orders and see what differences come up. i suppose i'll keep you posted XD

I'll aim for Monday.

thanks man, sorry you had to move your launch window. if you want, you COULD upload a beta branch specific version as its own download so as not to confuse players who dont use the beta branch.

I will very likely just do what others modders are doing and flag the mod for Beta Branch. I expect there is going to be some rockiness either way.
