When do you get the spinkick upgrade?

we played through the first mission and never ran across johnson , do we unlock the speed kick update on a later level or is our game ♥♥♥♥♥♥ now?

Unfortunately due to engine limitations the spin kick and other custom upgrades are only in solo play.
