Hints and Solutions
WARNING - the hint list contains spoilers! :)

1. Green Wallpaper Hallway Puzzle:

a. Is there a way to create a different ambience in the hallway?

b. Use the switches to turn ON/OFF the lamps and adjust the height of the lamps in order to create a different ambience.

c. Take a closer look at the paintings hanging on the walls. Do you see anything that you can relate to the position of the lamps, and if they should be turned ON/OFF?

d. The position of the eight paintings on the walls in the hallway (HIGH – LOW) is indicating the height of the eight lamps, and the colour of the paintings’ frames (BLACK – WHITE) is indicating whether the lamps are to be turned ON – OFF (BLACK = OFF; WHITE = ON). Furthermore, all the paintings in white frames have a lit lamp hidden in their motif also indicating that the corresponding lamps needs to be turned ON.

e. Solution:
Left side of the hallway – from left to right, facing the wall:
OFF+LOW – ON+HIGH – ON+LOW – ON+HIGH
Right side of the hallway – from left to right, facing the wall:
ON+HIGH – OFF+LOW – ON+LOW – OFF+HIGH

The correct position and the correct ON/OFF status of the eight will open the door to the Red Wallpaper Hallway.

2. Red Wallpaper Hallway, 1st Puzzle:

a. When you enter the Red Wallpaper Hallway, you hear knocking sounds right away. When you walk around in the hallway, you will hear different knocking sounds depending on where you are standing. Take a closer look at the surroundings when you hear a knocking sound.

b. There are three portraits of Friedrich on the wall. You hear a different knocking sound depending on which of these portraits you are standing in front of looking at.

c. How can you combine the information found below each of the three portraits of Friedrich with the knocking sounds you hear when you are standing in front of them to get the correct code for the Golden Turnable Numbers Lock found under the silver chest?

d. Solution:
Portrait of Friedrich 1874: 3 knocks
Portrait of Friedrich 1847: 8 knocks
Portrait of Friedrich 1898: 4 knocks

The correct order is according to the age of Friedrich on the three portraits, from young to old, as also indicated via the illustration above the chair (the life and age of a person):
8 – 3 – 4

Entering the correct code opens the drawer which unveils a silver key that can be used to open the door to the Living Room.

3. Living Room, 1st Puzzle (Record Player Puzzle):

a. Searching the Living Room, you have found some records and a record player. Can you find out how to operate the record player and listen to music?

b. Seemingly, a painting is missing above the record player. Which is the correct painting to hang there?

c. Is there a resemblance between one of the paintings found when searching the Living Room and one of the records?

d. Solution:
The painting depicting a ghost woman playing the piano needs to be hung on the wall above the record player. Once the painting is hanging there, you can put on the record with the same motif as on the painting on the record player. A few moments after, the record player will play the music on the record and open the door to the Children’s Room.

4. Living Room, 2nd Puzzle/Children’s Room 1st Puzzle (Clocks Puzzle):

a. You have found some clocks. Where can you put them?

b. You find a shelf with spots for five clocks. But how do you place the clock on the spots? They cannot be placed without you finding out how to allow for placement of the clocks.

c. Under the shelf for placement of the clocks, you find five identical brown books with golden ornaments that reminds you of the golden ornaments found on the clocks. Can you do something with the books?

d. Push the five brown books. Pushing each book turns unveils a letter on the shelf and turns on the respective spot above.

e. Did you find all five clocks?

i. There is a clock in the Red Wallpaper Hallway on the shelf under the Golden Turnable Numbers Lock.
There is clock on the shelf above the placement spots.
ii. There is a clock in each of the brown cabinets in the Living Room.
iii. There is a clock in the cabinet in the Children’s Room.

f. Solution, part 1:
Place the different clocks on the activated spots correctly. You find letters on the clocks which indicate which clock goes where.
There are two clocks with the letter C. There is only one correct placement of the two clocks. The Puzzle will let you know which is correct.
Correct placement: C – K – L – C – O
After placing the clocks, the clocks’ hands will move and indicate a number; you will also hear a cuckoo sound indicating the same number.
The numbers give you the code to the grandfather clock in the Children’s Room.

g. How do you find out the correct order of the numbers?

h. Solution, part 2:
The letters can be put together to create a word: CLOCK.
Enter the numbers on the lock found on the grandfather clock in the Children’s Room according to this:

C – 5
L – 3
O – 7
C – 9
K – 2

Once the correct code has been entered, the glass door of the grandfather clock opens, and you can pick up the clock.

i. Where can you put the clock, you have picked up in the grandfather clock?

j. Can you see a placement spot for another clock somewhere?

k. In the Children’s Room, you find a painting on the wall illustrating a little girl looking at a grandfather clock, below it you find a placement spot for a clock.

l. Place the clock on the placement spot.

m. Once you have placed the clock on the placement spot under the painting, the clock will start adjusting the time.

n. Adjust the time on the grandfather clock according to the time on the small clock.

o. Solution, part 3:
The correct time is:
08:15

Having adjusted the time correctly, the bed moves and unveils a toy vehicle and a frame with a photograph

p. The photograph points you to the cupboard in the Living Room.

5. Living Room, 3rd Puzzle (Cupboard Candles Puzzle):

a. Inside the cupboard, you find three shelves with a row of candles on each shelf. The candles can be turned ON/OFF.

b. Should all candles be turned ON, or just some of them?

c. Is there a way to find out which candles should be turned ON?

d. Inside the cupboard, you can find a hint in form of a picture in a frame. Take a closer look at the photo.

e. The photo shows a woman looking through a window seeing a lit candle. Where have you seen windows that are lit up in three layers?

f. Solution:
Go to the Children’s Room and locate the Dollhouse. Find out in which of the windows the light is turned ON. Use this order of windows that are lit up and windows that are not lit up to turn ON/OFF the different candles in the cupboard.

The Dollhouse has three floors, and the candles in the cupboard are places on three shelves, each representing a floor in the Dollhouse.

Correct combination (“x” = OFF; “o” = ON):

Shelf 1:
x x o x x x o

Shelf 2:
x o x x o x x o x x o x o o x

Shelf 3:
x x x x o o x o x x x o x x

Using the correct combination opens the cupboard doors, and you find a Black Dollhouse and a black Crow.

6. Living Room, 4th Puzzle (Stuffed Animals/Birds Puzzle):

a. Above the fireplace you find four Golden Turnable Bases. On one of the bases, you see an Owl facing the fireplace.

b. The illustration in the frame above the fireplace shows an owl sitting in a tree. Have you seen an owl sitting in a tree somewhere else?

c. Now, take a look through the windows. Do you see the Owl and his friends somewhere?

d. Solution:
Find the three missing friends of the Owl (Deer – to be found in one of the cabinets in the Living Room; Eagle – to be found in the corner next to the couch; Crow – was already found in the cupboard when solving the Candle Puzzle).

Place the friends of the Owl on the Golden Turnable Bases according to the order from left to right you see when looking through the left window:

1. Deer – 2. Crow – 3. Owl (already placed) – 4. Eagle

Turn the Owl and his friends according to the position they have outside when you look through the window:

1. Deer (facing the front; a bit to the right)
2. Crow (facing the front; a bit to the right)
3. Owl (facing the front)
4. Eagle (facing the front)

Once you have placed all the friends and turned the Owl and this friends to the correct position, you will hear a magical sound and a door opening sound indicating that something opened. A portal to enter through the Fireplace has opened. You can now pass through the Fireplace behind the wood (you don’t have to remove the wood).

7. Secret Passage behind the Fireplace Puzzle:

a. You find a photo at the end of the secret passage. Does this photo depict something that you have seem somewhere else? Have you brought it in your inventory?

b. The picture of the little girl with her dollhouse leads your thoughts to the Black Dollhouse you picked up in the cabinet with the candles.

c. Is the base next to the photo indicating anything special to you?

d. The base has the same form as the outline of the Black Dollhouse.

e. Solution:
Place the Black Dollhouse on the outline of a dollhouse on the base.
When placing the Black Dollhouse correctly, the door to the left in the secret passage will open. Walk through the door.

8. Secret Room behind the Mirror Puzzle:

a. Can you see a Mysterious Red Box on the floor if you turn around? (If you are playing co-op, please ask all players to move all the way into the room.)

b. Can you open the Mysterious Red Box on the floor?

c. Press the Golden Star in order to open the Mysterious Red Box on the floor.

d. Can you see something inside the miniature model of the Children’s Room that you haven’t seen in the real Children’s Room?

e. Press the Blood Alphabet inside the miniature model of the Children’s Room.

f. Did anything change when pressing the Blood Alphabet inside the miniature model of the Children’s Room?

g. Look through the mirror into the real Children’s Room. A big-sized Blood Alphabet appeared in the Children’s Room.

h. Do you see anything special happening when observing the Blood Alphabet in the Children’s Room?

i. Use the Ouija Board to spell the name which is indicated by the bloody hand on the Blood Alphabet.

j. You can find a Golden Star on the Ouija Board that you can place on the different letters in the name being spelled out by the bloody hand.

k. Placing the Golden Star on a letter will give you a corresponding number.

l. Solution:
The name spelled by the bloody hand on the Blood Alphabet is:
L – O – U – I – S – A
The corresponding numbers using the Ouija Board are:
2 – 3 – 1 – 0 – 7 – 0

Entering the correct code on the lock to the locked compartment of the Mysterious Red Miniature Model of the Children’s Room will open the locked compartment, and you will find a Blue Miniature Model of the Dollhouse. Pick up the Blue Dollhouse, and bring it with you through the blue secret passage that you can enter through the mirror that also opened up when you entered the correct code.

9. Living Room, 5th Puzzle (Ouija Board):

a. When entering the Living Room through the blue secret passage (through the mirror), a Ouija Board unveils.

b. How do you activate the Ouija board in order to communicate with the spirits?

c. Do you see anything unusual on the Ouija board?

d. Instead of “Yes” you can see the word “Dollhouse”.

e. Solution:
Place the Blue Dollhouse found inside the secret compartment of the Miniature Model of the Children’s Room on the word “Dollhouse” on the Ouija Board.
Placing the Blue Dollhouse on the word “Dollhouse” will activate the Ouija Board. And the spirit will start to communicate a message to you. Look carefully at what the Blue Heart is spelling out to you.
In case you didn’t see what the code at the end of the message was, press the Blue Heart, once the spelling has stopped.
The message spelled out by the Blue Heart is:
C – O – M – E – T – O – M – E – 1 – 8 – 7 – 5

10. Red Wallpaper Hallway, 2nd Puzzle:

a. Have you seen the message spelled by the spirit through the Ouija Board in the Living Room somewhere else?

b. On the cabinet you find a frame with a part of the message that the spirit communicated to you:
“(Let THE Little Chrildren) Come to me”.
Where can you use the remaining part of the communicated message?

c. Do you see anything that looks like placement spots for something that you have picked up somewhere else earlier on?

d. On the cabinet with the two golden rams and the “Come to me” frame, you find four placement slots for the Roman Number Cubes you found in the Chest when passing through the blue secret passage.

e. Which of the Roman Number Cubes should you put where?

f. In order to find the correct placement slot for each the numbers, you need to search the Red Wallpaper Hallway in order to find a hint.

g. The hint is the Key Cabinet hanging on the wall by the door.

h. How many keys are there in the different compartments of the Key Cabinet? Can you use this information in order to determine where to put the relevant Roman Number Cubes?

i. Solution:
The code spelled by the Ouija Board was:
1 – 8 – 7 – 5

The Key Cabinet on the wall has a particular number of keys in the different compartment:
1 – 3
2 – 4

Applying this number logic to the placement of the Roman Number Cubes, will give you this correct placement of the Roman Number Cubes:
1 – 7
8 – 5

Or using the Roman Number Cubes:
I – VII
VIII – V

Once the Roman Number Cubes have been placed correctly, the cabinet will open, and you will hear “Come to me” and the same message written in a golden frame.

Enter the cabinet and stand close to the “Come to me” message, until you see a portal appear. Then walk through the portal into the hidden room behind the cabinet.

11. Hidden Room behind the Cabinet, 1st Puzzle:

a. Have you seen the Black Square Letters on the Coffin somewhere else?

b. In the room behind the mirror in the Children’s Room, you have seen similar Black Square Letters on Black Cubes placed on the floor in front of the mirror and the same three toys you found in the Children’s Room.

c. Can you use the information from the Children’s Room (position of the cubes and position of the toys, respectively)?

d. Solution:
Place the three different toys found in the Children’s Room on the correct Black Square Letters on the Coffin:
T – Train
O – Car
Y – Plane

Having placed the toys on the correct letters, the coffin will move to the back of the room unveiling a gravestone with the birthdate of Louisa (= the code to the secret compartment of the miniature of the Children’s Room: 231070 (23-10-1870)) and the death year of Louisa (= the code communicated by the spirit via the Ouija Board in the Living Room: 1875). Also, the letters LOUISA will appear on the coffin.

12. Hidden Room behind the Cabinet, 2nd Puzzle:

a. Have you noticed that something changed in the room?

b. Look around and see if you can notice something that changed.

c. Take a look at the small Crosses on the left and right side of the room, respectively.

d. Do the Golden Crosses hide some secret information?

e. Can you see anything else than the information that the Crosses unveil?

f. Take a lot at the ceiling.

g. How can you combine the information that the Crosses unveil with the illustrations found in the ceiling?

h. Solution:
The Crosses unveil numbers:
On the left side: 1 – 0
On the right side: 2 – 3

An illustration can be found above each of these numbers:
1 – Eagle
0 – Owl
2 – Crow
3 – Deer

The order in which the animals appear from left to right next to and on the gravestone indicate the order of numbers to be entered on the lock on the gravestone:
Deer – Eagle – Owl – Crow
3 – 1 – 0 – 2

This code indicates the date of Louisa’s death: 31-02-1875.

Having entered the code correctly, the coffin lid open, and you will find a key representing the freeing of Louisa’s soul. Take the key and run as quickly as you can to the front door and open the door in order to free Louisa’s soul.

IMPORTANT:
In case you don't find the key inside the coffin, or if you accidentally drop it and can't find it anymore, you can find a Spare Front Door Key on top of the Key Cabinet on the wall in the Red Wallpaper Hallway, so you can still free Louisa's soul.

Upon the coffin room expanding, I got trapped in the coffin somehow and wasn't able to complete the map. I was able to input the code from the guide but upon picking up the key I still couldn't move. Legit hardlocked on the last step sadly

@DelgoKurtaine, thanks for reporting this issue. The issue has now been fixed and a new version has been published, so that you don't get trapped anymore and are able to finish the room. Thanks for your valuable help by reporting this. :)

If you play with 2 players, after inserting the black house behind the fireplace, if entering the next room, 1 player is able to pass and if the second is not exactly on the same height as that first entering player is, the second player will be stuck in the room behind the fireplace due to the passage instantly closing, id suggest moving it, or leaving it open for a little bit

@AWS Fanboy, thanks for playing the map. :) And thanks for reporting this issue. The map is a single player map, however, it is indeed possible to play more players together. :) I have now changed the settings for the closing of the passage so that it only closes, once all players have entered. Thanks again for your feedback. If you play it again, I would be happy to receive any other suggestions for improvement. :)

Played with 4 players tonight and after inserting the black house behind the fireplace, it let us all into the mirror room but the red box never appeared to us and we had to give up. Also the passage never closed for us even if we all entered the room.
SuperFriiz  [developer] Apr 2, 2022 @ 4:36am
Hi @Mori, thanks a lot to you and your friends for playing this room. So sorry to hear the red box never appeared to you and you had to give up. :/ Did all of you go all the way into the mirror room (close to the Ouija board)? The red box only appears when all players have entered the room entirely. Could you try to go all the way in, if you give it another try? :) Hope you will, so you can uncover the faith of the poor soul still trapped in the house. Thanks a lot for your feedback. :)

I played with 4 players as well and I had the problem as @Mori with the red box not appearing even though we all went into the mirror room entirely. We had to give up

Hi @Emo Sumo, thanks to you and your friends for playing the room. :) And thanks for reporting this. That's really unfortunate. I will have a look at this issue and post here again when a new version is up that allows for co-op with multiple players. :)

Hi @Emo Sumo, hi @Mori, thank you both for reporting this. The issue has now been fixed in the room version I've just released. :) Hope you and your friends will give it another try. :) Thanks for reporting the issue. :)

Hi @SuperFriiz, first your level is really cool and challenging but at the end we couldn't escape because there were no key inside the coffin... So I just ran away, and couldn't finish the level.

Hi @Pekno, thanks a lot for your really nice comment. I'm super happy you liked it. :) So sorry to hear you couldn't escape due to the missing key. I have now fixed the issue and uploaded a new version of the room. In this version, in case you don't find the key inside the coffin, or you accidentally drop it and can't find it anymore, you can now find a spare front door key on top of the Key Cabinet on the wall in the Red Wallpaper Hallway, so you can still free Louisa's soul. Thanks again for playing this room! :)

@Karl Dandleton, I know. :) It was a deliberate choice to make it less macabre. ;) Thanks for playing the room.
