So the first version contained the townies as asylum patients as goons but from user comment I don't think this was clear enough and updated to 3 townies as goons. Any opinions on this?

I think the patients stand out more but are a more subtle reference (to townies and Gary's fate). The townies on the other hand make more sense as invaders and bad influencers for probably the majority of users.

I absolutely did consider the Townies as goons early on and technically they still are, since 3 of the Townies were tricked into the Asylum by Gary during the game and those were the models I based the goons on...

But that's not the process that got them there and it's clearly not the same as them being actual townies. The truth is I moved away from the idea of towny goons as time went on and other parts of the mod developed until eventually I dreamt of having Gary as a goon!

Townies or Gary, the game does have limitation in there only being 3 models for goons and they don't get face or hair variety, so whoever was cast would often appear as exact clones. Having 3 particularly Townies cloned (and especially Gary clones) running around the school I felt would have got weird...

Then while working on the Towny uniform set I came across their asylum models and thought they'd be fun to include as a small Bully easter egg alongside Gary! And later realising I would have Gary clones, I also rediscovered that Gary after the game's story is said to be in the asylum for 3 years and it all felt right!

However I agree I make some 'unique' choices along the way; the flavour to probably expect from my work :P and there's further reference to the asylum in my own map which maybe makes them make more sense? I really just liked the easter egg though. I could certainly make a Towny goons set to swap in or as the featured goons, probably wearing the Academia goon bandanas to avoid clones.
