i managed to get there by jumping past the carts, was that it?

Yes. There's darkness there, and you saw past it.

(that's also where Spamton even says that line, which was part of the hint)

Just thought I'd add that the whole "We'll stand up tall" part of the hints was throwing me off heavily.
