Meltdown question
Sorry if it's a dumb question but i'm not expert in these things, i have just a basic understanding
So i've noticed that if i basically stop the reaction in a reactor with control rods above the fuel rods, the reactor still produces heat but even if the fuel rods exceed the meltdown point nothing happens
i get the fact that there is no reaction going (maybe?) but why if for example i set the temperature of a fuel rod to a lot of degrees no meltdown occours?
In short: what that temperature (f.ex with LEU-235 meltown > 5000°) means? the max temperature in an active (without control rods) reactor?
thanks

Not too experienced with this neither.
Whenever I threw some fuel at eachother then some moderators into a pile they did explode, im not sure how this is happening, but i can only say to shove the control rods next to the fuel and not above.

well it seems that the rods must be in proximity to slow down/stop the reaction, i don't think it matters if you put them next or above the fuel, i clearly see that the reaction and the heat slow down or stop with them just above, so the thing i don't understand is if it's realistic or not, for example take a single fuel cell and set a great temperature, it won't explode except for the HECf-249
what you're doing is simply throw fuel at moderator, so the temperature increase without the cooling and because of the reaction and you have the meltdown
my question is without the reaction, with the reaction stopped by the control rods
thanks for the reply anyway

You need to have the reactor be active otherwise meltdown can't happen. Basically i wanted only for actual reactors to meltdown and not heated up fuel rod as that would just melt and i don't have better way of doing that with current system

I might add weaker explosion for fuels that overheat when the reactor is inactive.
