As someone who has gone through this exact thing I'll tell you know that when he flies off to burn down Dale you need the dynasty Aivadiurion to either own it which automatically kills Smaug or they need to be a courtier of whoever owns Dale at the time (this instead has that dynasty member make a prowess check to kill Smaug)

The issue with this is that at the start of the game there is only one living member of this dynasty as far as im aware and there is a solid chance that they have died out by the time you would try to undertake the task of kill Smaug meaning that it is impossible to kill him without some other mod to allow you to revive that house and grant them Dale

Wow, thanks for helping! It seems i would not never more try to reclaim Erebor, haha.

Happy to help with atleast giving the information and if you do want a way to bring back the dynasty you can use the "Revive dead dynasty" mod to get one of them in your court to then grant them Dale, and if you need to find the dynasty itself you can check the owning history of the Dale town title and it should be there
